Cairo can do whatever they want but during the last revolution I noticed that when the embassy was closed peoples interviews were scheduled again for months later.

People waiting for interview dates had to wait 6 months

But the people who had an interview scheduled and if the embassy was opened they had their scheduled interview

so just pray the embassy is open on your day

Good Luck

May 24, 2011 NOA1

Sept 11, 2011 NOA2-took 19 days to get case number

Sept 30, 2011 NVC number and IIN received Friday-gotta wait till Monday

Oct 13, 2011 Case Completed- 13 days from receiving case number Took 32 days from NOA2

Nov 30, 2011 Notified of Interview date

January 19, 2012 Interview- 240 days from NOA1

INTERVIEW RESULTS-APPROVED WITH 14 WEEKS AP--but he got his visa in 56 days!!!!!!

PLEASE EDIT YOUR TIMELINE IN YOUR PROFILE SO OTHERS CAN LEARN HOW LONG EACH STEP TAKES IN THIS PROCESS

This is very bad situation and I feel sad for the people that are currently in process. My husband had went throught the process last year during the time of the revolution; we were waiting for almost 6 months for the embassy to schedule an interview for him; after the interview it went pretty smooth; however i remember making numerous phone calls to the us embassy in cairo and writing letters to Ann Peterson begging them to schedule an interview date for him. The embassy told me clearly that due to the protests the embassy has been closed and they were 4-5months behind in processing the cases. I can only imagine with all this craziness going on and attacks on the us embassy; it will take some time for the process to get back to normal. Also, it really depends on Egypt, when the protest will stop and when embassy workers will be able to return safely. (i'm sure at this point they have been evacuated).

So good luck to everyone, hopefully you will not need to wait too long. Be patient in your process, it's a long jurney but just know one day it will be over and you will be united with your loved once:)
