After CR-1 approved, time-limit to come back to US?

If me and my wife, presumably married in Brasil, have her visa approved do we have a time-limit in which time we have to come back to the US and establish residency?

Reason I ask is she has some work right now, that might delay her coming to the US right away. Should we marry, and wait on the visa then?

The visa will have an expiration date printed on it, the visa must be use prior to that date. The typical period of validity is 6 months from date of issue, but it can be for less time than that.

One way you can delay the process is by rescheduling the interview at the consulate in Rio, once it is scheduled.

My husband has a contract through next spring so we may have to delay the interview time if it gets scheduled to early. I'd rather have all the paperwork done and know I'm ready to go except the interview/medical than wait to start filing later.
