Yeah I was thinking of pearls too. I have a question though. The pearl shops in Greenhills, do you know if they are real pearls or just cultured? I don't wanna give my mom in law fake ones coz for sure she'll know. Thanks for the suggestion!

I was in Greenhills a while ago and i bought 5 pairs of pearl earrings with different colors. Apparently, I was thinking of pasalubongs too for my future family. And i happened to read this post before I went to Greenhills. I got a great deal. I only paid Php380 for the 5 sets of earrings. Me and my fiancee already bought pearl earrings there before and he's the one who told me that for you to know if the pearls are real is too scratch the pieces together then you will see a powder. And when you wipe it, the scratch will disappear. I did that to all of the pieces that i bought. They said it's fresh water pearl. So i guess it's the same as the cultured ones?

Wow that is a good deal. Php380 for 5 earrings, that's a sweet deal. I heard about the rubbing of the pearls to make sure it's real or not. I am not sure if that means its cultured or not but Im really wary about the authenticity of it. Thanks for the feedback though, appreciate it as always.

I went to Greenhills and finally found out the difference of the pearls they sell there compared to the really expensive ones. The ones in Greenhills are real pearls and not fake. They are cheaper because they are freshwater pearls. The other types of pearls like the South Sea pearls which they also sell in Greenhills.

And one last suggestion, if you have time, visit Kultura Filipino in MOA. You'll die with all the gift choices you can bring with you. Spent a lot of moneygetting stuff there. Good luck sis!

"You donÂ’t get to choose, you just fall in love. And you get this person who is all wrong and all right at the same time. And you know that you love them so much except sometimes they just drive you completely insane and no one can explain it and the reason its so confusing is because its love. But if love didnÂ’t have any challenges, what would be the point?"

cultured pearls are not fake. most of the stores in gh doesnt offer fake pearls. you can actually do simple tests on the pearls to make sure they are not imitations.

Tooth Test

Rub the pearls lightly along the biting edge of your upper front teeth. If they feel gritty or sandy, they are real pearls. If they feel smooth, they are probably imitations.

- Friction Test

Take two pearls then lightly rub one against the other. If they feel gritty or sandy, they are real pearls. If they feel smooth, they are not real.

- Flaw Test

Examine the pearls for flaws. If they appear flawless and unnatural perfection, they might be imitation.

- Matching Test

Observe the whole pearl jewelry piece, their shape, luster, size, and color. Imitations can perfectly match while real pearls tend to be variations.
