Interview - further checks?

Hi All,

I had my interview on thursday last week and the consular officer said pending checks your visa is approved. When I aksed him what checks, he said oh just standard checks. I was not given a pink form and he took my passport from me. Does it sound as if I am in AP? I am really confused. People seemed to have had a more definite answer about their approval on here and I wasnt sure if this was normal?

Thanks :-)

I love my husband!!

It doesnt sound like AP. More some terrible wording by the officer!

Congrats on your approval! I hope you get your visa soon. It might be worth calling to find out whats going on to put your mind at rest.

Edit to add: It sounds like this http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/381949-post-approval-processing/page__p__5591659#entry5591659 Nothing serious, just bad wording.

Hi there

My husband went last Monday and his was approved and his son's wasn't,. They told him the same thing -- we just need to check some things -- well they didn't say anything but sent Connor's visa with his Dad's --

Did you pay for the courier?

good luck xx

Did you read that thread i linked you to? That one turned out to be bad wording of basically somebody arranging the visa to be processed. I dont think it is the dreaded AP! Do you have a MENA sounding name (or are MENA) or anything else that could put you in AP? There have been very few cases of somebody ending up in real AP when they dont have something connecting them like that.

I read the the thread so I am hoping thats the case. My husband was in the US military so I am perhaps wondering if that could be a possible reason. It is all very worrying for me. I can cancel my flight whatever happens as I booked a fully refundable flight but Im more concerned as I am 7 months pregnant, they knew this at the interview and fast tracked my wait time at the embassy. I feel worried as the lady on the phone said to me the embassy will be in contact but couldnt tell me if it was regular checks or administrative processing, she kept saying you are in administrative processing and the embassy will be in contact. Im keeping my fingers crossed. :)

I honestly think they will do what they did to my husband -- he only paid for his visa (for the courier) but they ended up sending both visas with the courier. The fact that you paid for the courier is a good sign I think and also that they didn't give you any paperwork is also a good sign. Fingers crossed for you ......and your baby :)

My husband interviewed last Monday and the visas showed up on Friday --- they were fingers and thumbs opening them wondering if both would be in there.

Please keep us informed xx

I can imagine...I think I may have met your husband at my medical exam in London...I have a feeling but I am sure their are lots of fathers and sons immigrating. If it is him, I am glad his son will be able to start school. I remember they were saying thats what they were hoping for! :)

Its hard because you need to plan so much to be ready to go and I need to start boxing my stuff up just in case. Its all so uncertain too, your life is in someone else's hands. They took my passport but I walked out of my interview feeling confused whether to celebrate or to hang fire until I receive my visa in my passport.

Hi there

My husband's name is John -- his son is 16 and is taller than him. Short dark hair -- :) its funny how people run into each other. Hopefully they will send your visa soon!! I left England in 1990 and went thru this process - I really do know how you feel --- On the subject of school -- I talked to the school here and they can't get us in until Sept 10th for an appointment!!!!! The kids went back this past Monday.

Did you check the DX website to see if its been sent out for delivery yet?

good luck x

No delivery yet...I think I will call DOS again and ask them what they mean by Administrative Processing.

What a nightmare, still it will give you all a chance to get settled. I am sure everything will be fine with schools, they are normally pretty good once you have had the interview.

I love my husband!!

Don't panic, it can take a few days longer than average. You can start enquiring if you see it goes past 10-14 working days!

If you call DOS they'll prob just say, it's under Administrative processing, meaning it's piled up somewhere waiting for someone to work on it most likely! They kept your passport, I dont think they would keep it if they put you on the dreaded AP!
