Address Where Your Relative Intends To live

When I fill out form I-130, block 18, I plan to use a friends address. I do not live in this state but we plan on moving there after my Wife's visa CR-1 is approved. Will this be OK? Will I need to prove that I live at this address? Will Immigration check to see if I live at this address?

Any comments would be appreciated...

Yes they do check to see if you live at the address you give them. They possibly don't do this to all applicants as they use what you call a "random test basis" as an audit tool. They do not physically go to your address, but they do have a way of checking your residence through your credit report or something that resembles that tool or through the Post Office. So the best thing you should do is ensure that your postal address match the address you give in your application.

If you have not notified the Post Office of your "change of address", it is best that you do that now!!

The whole purpose is to give the address that you and your spouse will live. If you intend on living with your friend then that is fine if not then just give where you will live. Also, you do not want to lie because, while USCIS does not check your credit report to see your current address, they will do background checks and none of us know what system will be used. If you do not have an address oversea, then how do you intend on providing affidavit and support, filing taxes ect...

What my plan is..I live in the Philippines now, but maintain my Wisconsin residence. I plan to move to Guam after the Visa is approved and change my residence to Guam, I do not have an address there yet, so going to find a friend over there, if I cannot find someone then I plan on using our hotel address where we will be staying for the first 2 weeks or so and then doing a change of address when we find our permanent address on Guam.
