Airfare to bring fiancee to the U.S.

My fiancee's K-1 visa was approved by the U.S. Consulate in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday. I have a couple of questions about airfare:

1. Can I charge her airline ticket to my credit card? I guess I am concerned that some airline official might want to see the card, which is obviously not in her possession.

2. Can I purchase a round-trip ticket instead of a one-way? The round-trip is half the price and I assume we can always cancel the return flight portion.

Thanks in advance,

Scott and Jandira

Each airline has their own credit card security protocol. Decide who you want to fly with and give them a call to arrange the ticket, or simply send a money transfer so your mate can buy the ticket locally. If you have to buy the ticket online, find out what verification the ticket holder will need before boarding and get that info to them.

It doesn't make any difference whether it is round trip or one-way......buy whatever is cheaper. In fact if the round trip is cheaper, contact the airline AFTER arrival explaining there will not be a return at the set time, then try to get them to give you a credit. But most of the time a one-way will be cheaper.

My husband and my dad have both paid for tickets for me to and from the US - no problem.

Many US fiance(e)s pay for their partner's tickets!

If they want to see the card I am sure they can call to verify with you and or you could FAX information / confirmations if they really need it.

Purchase a one way or a return ticket it does not matter! Purchase whatever works better for you or is cheaper!

Goodluck and congratulations!

In my experience they usually ask for credit card for self check in on domestic flights, and even at that its not a requirement they can use other means to look up the ticket. Buying someoone else a plane ticket is very common so you guys are fine. As long as she has her passport and flight info shes finen

When purchased through some of these online "agencies", my ticket number attached to my printed out itinerary and passport were all I've needed. Agreed with what the others say about round trip/one way.
