WOOOOO HOOOOO !!!!

Yesterday, the big silver bird from China delivered my new family. My fiancee and her son arrived in Seattle after their long flight from the PRC (People's Republic of China). Their POE encounter took over two hours to complete. Evidently, there were several other POEs at the same time, a busy time for the CBP folks at SeaTac airport. Then they couldn't find my fiancee's file in the DHS computer. Of course, she gave them the sealed envelope. She also had her paper copy of the culmination of this immigration effort thus far. After a bit of coaxing, it all went well. They experienced no other issues, and were well treated by the professional CBP staff. Though, I have to tell you, I was a little anxious waiting at the SeaTac international arrival area...with no news, no nothing.....for two hours! It all worked out in the end. A buddy of mine brought his truck to load up and take their luggage and belongings to our house. We took to my car and jetted (yeah, sure, 5 o'clock Seattle traffic  ) down to the King County Courthouse to purchase the marriage license. We made it there with five minutes to spare! There is a WA state mandatory 3-day waiting period between purchase of the license and the marriage ceremony. Anyway, we got 'er done! Our marriage is scheduled for this coming Monday at the Seattle Municipal Courthouse. :dancing: So timing was a bit of an issue.

I took them to a Mexican restaurant for dinner, a cuisine that they had never experienced. Not sure if they enjoyed it, but it was an American experience. The Lord knows how many experiences I have had during my numerous trips to China in the last couple of years!!! Then we drove and walked around a bit, anything to keep them up as long as possible. It helps makes the time conversion easier, and hopefully minimizes their jet lag. Well, they were acting like two drunken sailors at around 10pm. A shower, and off to bed for them. They are still sleeping, eleven hours later!

We are all so very happy and thankful that we have been so blessed thus far in our immigration journey. Last night we were finally able to see the same beautiful half moon together on the same continent, at the same time and place, in their new country.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and support. For all of those that are in the earlier steps of their immigration journey, the results are certainly worth all of the effort. :dancing:

Wishing you continued good fortune on your immigration journey.

am I reading that right? Same day license application?

wow.

After all the other waiting, 'same day ' makes a lot of sense to me...

in a way, it's also good, she's gonna sleep for 3 days regardless :D

alrighty - tell us about the wedding dress / qi pao...

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
