yah, i know, i wasnt going to buy the ticket until i know he is approved, and i have to buy him his ticket around my work schedule so that i can go pick him up.

Can anybody answer my question about the boarder office??? if thats the name of it, and if thats where alfredo needs to turn in his packet of papers. Please? All i know is that alfredo has to turn those papers in at his point of entry so that he gets his I-94 stamped in his visa or w/e, im assuming that they are going to give him more information when they give him the packet. They cant just shove some papers at him, and not explain to him what he needs to do with them, right?

I took a risk and bought my wife's plain ticket about a 3 weeks, hope nothing goes worng otherwise I just waisted money. As for the time, I am on the West coast so that means that Juarez is 1 hour ahead of us.

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone knows if Juarez has caught up on the backlog from the move? Does anyone have an interview coming up and if so, what was the timeframe between NOA2 and when you received your letter? I'm just getting antsy! I'm trying to calm myself by gathering info and making "guesstimates" as to when I MIGHT have my honey here with me...:D This process could drive one absolutely mad!! :protest:

By the way Kristina...I hope Alfredo's got his visa by now! I've been reading your story for awhile now, but haven't posted yet. Good luck to both of you!!

Not yet, I believe she is at work.

Caity, I just noticed your fiancée is entering the United States for the first time tomorrow. You must be so excited! I live near Detroit, Michigan, not too far from Chicago...We are expecting 6-10 inches of snow tomorrow. Has he ever seen snow? I know my girlfriend hasn't.

Anyways, do you guys have a wedding date picked out already? Diana and I were thinking that New Year's Eve would be a cool date to have a wedding anniversary (nobody has to work that day, there are parties everywhere, all the restaurants put together special menus, etc.). But I don't think we will make that date so we will probably do something quick in early or mid January. Diana's interview should definitely be happening sometime next week, hopefully before Thursday (Christmas) because she wants to be in Acapulco by then.

Hey Confucian... no... he's never seen snow... or experienced cold like this. I live near Milwaukee, WI- so he's in for a treat!!! We also wanted to get married on New Year's Eve... but we are going to do it at the courthouse, and no one works Dec 31/Jan 1. So, January 2 it is :)

I hope Diana's interview goes well!!

ok guys here is the scoop....

I finally got a hold of alfredo at 10pm last night. 10 PM!!!!! after i heard that he was ok, both me and his brother started cursing at him, telling him how irresponcible he is for not turning his phone on, or not contacting anybody because everyone has been calling him. Mi cunado, mi suegra, my cundada, todos!!!!

Alfredo got there before 8am to be a little early, and they didnt let him out of the building until 12 hours later!!!!! 8PM IS WHEN THEY LET HIM OUT!!!

but after i bout pulled my hair out with worry, he said 'ya me la dieron' HE GOT APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HE IS ON A PLANE BACK HOME RIGHT NOW!!!! Although we are having crappy weather here and he should be delayed, i should be seeing him around 5:30, he hasnt told me any details yet about what happened, but i can tell you that im sure he has some interesting things to say, considering i have never heard of a fiance visa lasting 12 hours.

I will submit the details when i get a chance to sit down and talk to him.

caity, looks like our future hubbies are going to be seeing us today, wow. who woulda thunkit right? And alfredo and are going to shoot for Jan. 4th, wow, are dates are pretty close.

GueraKristina- so glad to hear that he got his visa!! Even if it took soo long!! I hope his flight isn't delayed too badly, I'm hoping Angel's won't be... but he's flying into Chicago, so I imagine there will be some sort of delay. gahh oh well. After three and a half years, another hour or two won't hurt us. I guess :P Here in WI, we've got about 11 inches of snow, and it's still coming down strong  I guess it's a good way to quickly acclimate him to the snow :P We're bringing him a winter coat to the airport, he'll need it!

Good luck with everything Kristina!

Hello,

Well, my wife went to the consulate at about 11:20am yesterday 12/18 for her interview and did not leave untill 4:45pm. She and alot of other people were told to come back in the moring 6:15am.

While at the consulate yesterday she was able to take care of the prescreening and so this moring all she is doing is her interview. She has been there since 6:15am and it is now 9:45am "Juarez time" and I have not heard from here!! So at this point I am starting to worrie.

Good luck to everyone.

Thanks guys. Although everything seems fine now, i would NEVER do any of this again if i had a choice haha. Alfredo's flight has been delayed by like 3 hours, so he is sitting in san antonio texas, and was originally supposed to arrive home at 4:20, he is now going to be here by 7;20, that is unless they delay it even more. :undecided: but he is on his way home and that is the most important stuff. I cant wait to find out how everything went for him, i want to know the nitty gritty! and i will deff. let you guys know everything.

P.S caity, alfredo was here on an H2b visa, he has seen snow before, but i still cant deny that he always gets excited when it starts.

Congratulations everyone! I'm glad to hear the new consulate is open, it is a little safer area there. My wife just flew to Juarez Wednesday to visit her family for Christmas. I am driving down on Monday and spending the week of Christmas there. It's sad that it is becoming so dangerous there. I talked to my wife yesterday and her family told her it just isn't the same there, you have to be careful everywhere you go. I found this really cool way to call Mexico, it's called Jajah at www.jajah.com and it costs only 6.4 cents per minute. You can call from your cell phone, land line, or computer.

alfredo has a 'go' phone, and it worked in mexico. It didnt charge extra to send or recieve text messages and calling didnt cost extra either. it costs the same here as it does there, plus, you can load money on the phone without physically having the phone with you, like when alfredo was in mexico, he needed more money on his phone, so i loaded $15 onto his phone, and they send you a free text message letting know your updated account balance. It worked in juarez, but also in alfredo's home town, which is like the center of mexico in the mountains.
