I can't find the answer, and I can't remember... but does CDJ need 2 passport-style photos of the both of us at the interview, or only of my fiance?

I'm going to pretend that I know the answer to this- and say that I think it's just your fiance.

Can someone clear up whether they take two 2x2 photos of the Mexican Citizen at the medical appointment. The ones Diana has will be old by the time she interviews.

Well- in the medical examination instruction sheet on the CDJ website, it says "It is not necessary to bring a photo for your medical exam, it will be provided by the medical clinic without charge." So... I wouldn't think she'd need to bring her own? For the actual interview she'll probably need to take new photos... Anyone think that sounds right?

I don't know either... that part of the instruction sheet always confused me, because on the other (appointment) sheet, it says to bring 2 photos. I do know though, that many of the people inside the consulate (as opposed to the medical clinic) were sent out to go outside and visit the photo place across the street for new photos.

So greatgate - you might just want to submit what you have now, since they probably won't accept any passport style photo you submit (based on the old reviews here & in this thread) and will just tell Diana to go outside, get new photos, and come back in.

Hi All,

Havent been on here in a while but thought I would throw my 2 cents in. The clinic takes fotos for the exam. You still need to take 2 fotos for the actual interview. I suggest getting them at any of the places across the street to not deal with the hassle of getting the wrong format.

Hey everyone,

I found an awesome Google map that a member from another immigration forum created for CDJ with consulate, medical, and hotel locations:

Also, the new consulate (per rumors on this other immigration forum) won't be open until possibly this winter. They wrote "i stopped by on monday at the new consulate project to see a friend of mine who is in charge of the security end of the construction and he said they are 6-8 months behind schedule due to the economy, fuel and steel prices. ALL materials on U.S.projects abroad are brought in from the U.S for security reasons and they are not getting the things they need to complete the security part and so the rest of construction is on hold until PHASE 1 is complete. he said if they open by the end of the year they will be performing a miracle."

I am so glad to hear that. I could just see me going down there and the embassy being closed for two weeks for moving. And of course, I would have called ahead and been reassured not to worry.

So I think that's 3 of us who will be (or whose fiance/es will be) in CDJ around the same time Aug-Sept.

I am getting super stoked. I was checking out the google map and noticed the border traffic there

in CDJ is 10 times worse than I have seen it in Lukeville (AZ) and Nogales (AZ)

Does anyone have a solution for that?

Do you mean a copy of the Fiance Packet from CDJ? Probably 2-3 weeks, maybe a little more, but I wouldn't stress over it since some people didn't get theirs for 3 months.

Or do you mean a letter from NVC saying that your petition was sent to CDJ?

Not really sure what I mean. :star:

I thought we had to had a special letter in the packet to present at the embassy, plus all the forms and what not outlined in the package. I am hoping to get this wrapped up by the first week of September. I am planning on staying at the Hotel Lincoln.

Great choice Brian. That's where we stayed at. It's only about a 5 minute walk. Don't get your hopes up on the mall across the street though. It seems pretty deserted, but at least there is a huge 24hr grocery store in it. You are right on needing the appt letter. This is your fiancee's pass into the consulate. By the way, don't get suckered into being there at 6AM. You will be grouped together with everyone that has an appt at the same time, and won't be allowed in the building earlier than stated. My fiancee's appt was between 0800-1000, and we got grouped in with the 0830 appt group. By the way, I wouldn't recommend the first week of September due to Labor Day (Sept. 1st). Best of luck to you.

Brian,

Ah, yes, you would be expecting the Fiance Packet, which includes the open appointment letter.

In the meantime though, sometime in the next week or 2, you can call the NVC and find out your case number, and they'll let you know if your petition has been sent out to CDJ yet. You can then go to the DHL.com website (which is how NVC mails the petitions to the consulates/embassies) and type in Tracking by Reference Number "EXP 15 JUL 2008A" (if, for example, the NVC told you that it will have been sent out on July 16 - and change the dates around if it results in nothing) and you'll get a list of all the places that got mailed out from Portsmouth, NH (I think that's the right spelling) to other cities (like CDJ). After about a week, CDJ will process it, and about 4 wks later, CDJ will mail the Fiance Packet to you and your girl.

I'm not sure what hotel I will stay at yet... Just somewhere within 5-10 min walking distance and is comfortable.
