Just received NOA 2 notice today! Couple of questions....

1) I know I can prepare everything in packet 3 ahead of time, but....What paper do I need before I can officially go to the embassy? Does that come with my packet 3 papers?

2) You know how visajourney has its own INTENT TO MARRY format, can I use that or do I need to use the CJD 401 form off the Juarez website?

Congratulations on receiving NOA2! You'll need to receive your open appointment letter, which will come with Packet 3. On the Juarez website, it is "Instructions, form CDJ 400." At the end, it states:

"...THIRD: As soon as you have obtained all of the documents that apply in your case, you can come to this Consulate any working day Monday thru Friday between 8:00 to 10:00 a.m."

As for the Intent to Marry, I've seen people use either form. If you look at the one on the Juarez website, the example letter was last updated Sep 2005, and people have used the VJ one since after Sep 2005.

Good luck with everything!

I meant to add that instead of a "Packet 3," it's just called the Fiance Packet.

Another Question: On the I-134 Affidavit of Support form. I filled one out last March/April 2007, and I plan on using it for the upcoming appointment which I anticipate will be in April sometime. I will also bring last 2 years tax returns and a side note from the person who does my taxes stating that I was in school and not working in 2005. My question is "How closely do they look into the I-134 Affidavit of Support form? I have heard that CJ does not require it so it makes me wonder if I need to provide the financial stuff" P.S.: The I-134 is notarized with 17,000 dollars in money in the bank and now I am basically at $0, I also had a note from an employer saying I made 15,000 a year but now I don't have a job.

India, gun buyback and steamroll.

Do you think my above financial information will be sufficient? And does CJ really examine the financial records to ensure that the foreign citizen will not become a public charge? I mean do they thoroughly examine the papers and pull out a calculator and make sure you are not a penny under the requirements? I am trying to decide if I need a co-sponsor or not?

I'm sure if you are close they will question it. My wife said they looked at mine and made several comments about my income being very good. They do look so make sure it is enough, if not have a backup sponsor.

To be safe, I think it would be a good idea to have a co-sponsor. Sometimes the consular officer will look at only the pictures and ongoing relationship info without even looking at the tax transcripts/bank letter/employment letter. And other times, they do. I think it would be better to have all your bases covered than to hope they don't look at it.

Sigh... I wish there were more people for our consulate commenting on here... It seems like when this thread started, there were a lot of USC petitioning their fiance/ee's and being very active with this thread, and now... it's just a few people.

I agree with what NM123 says about having a co-sponsor, to be safe. That's what we did. When Juan went to CDJ, he took my financial info. but he also took my dad's financial info. to play it safe. I had been a full time college student with a work study job position that only payed about 3000 per year. Although by the time, Juan went to CDJ I had a full time job, we thought it would be better to have a backup in case it was needed. It is better being safe, than sorry don't you think.

About your comment NM123 about this thread dying down, I totally agree. I was one of those original posters who went on this thread like crazy with others going thru the CDJ consulate. But by now, all of those original members are here in the U.S. and have now married their fiance's. I remember I used to say that I would always continue posting on this site, even after Juan arrived in the U.S. But it totally changes once your partner is here in the U.S. and there is so much to do, so much to catch up on. It will happen to all of you, you'll see.

Toodles!

Hi there,

Well, I hope this thread doesn't die. It can help many of us going through the process. There is a lot of useful information here for K-1 filers, but not as much info. for us K-3 filers...but it's still useful.

Thanks to all of you who have helped answer my questions.

By the way...ONE QUESTION...WHAT CLINIC WOULD YOU RECOMMEND TAKING THE MEDICAL EXAMINATION at? I KNOW THERE ARE TWO IN JUAREZ, WHICH ONE IS THE BETTER ONE?

Thanks for your help.

I asked my husband which one he thinks is better, and he toldl me this. He went to the clinic that's in front of the CDJ consulate (right next to Hotel La Playa: where he stayed). He said there really isn't any difference between the clinics, or at least that he knows of. The reason he went to that clinic is because he went during January (when it gets very cold in Juarez) and the clinic where he went were allowing the people to go inside and wait, so that's why my husband went there, to stay away from the cold a little, :)

Did everyone bring an ORIGINAL birth certificate to Juarez? I sent my fiance's original with my I129F submission! So we only have copies. We are just trying to save 30 or 40 dollars, do you think that we should get another original or will the Juarez consulate have it on file? Or better yet, do they even ask for a bc?

I believe you are required to take an original birth certificate and a copy. You should read the information posted in the US Consulate from Juarez. IT would help.
