Ok fellow CDJers ... t-minus 2 weeks until our trip to Juarez and a couple questions.

1) The big one is her CURP. She doesn't have one. It is blank on her passport and "----" on her birth certificate. The DS-156 says "if applicable" so we've just left it blank. Possible issues here?

2) Adequate means - I plan on providing my official job offer letter on letterhead which includes start date and annual salary (just started a new job last month) and W-2s for the past 3 years. Will this be sufficient?

Thanks in advance.

CURP is not at all necessary.

Adequate means is based on the USCIS poverty guidlines. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-864P.pdf

Read the I-134 guidelines - that will give an idea of what other things you should take as evidence i.e. paystubs and bank statements.

WOW. I've always been meaning to read through this entire thread. I'm just on page 14 of 44 to date and the information is incredible stuff. Thanks so much to all that have shared such in depth information of their experiences.

Anyone planning on being there during the Labor Day week? We were banking on the clinic to be open that Monday while the Consulate was closed that day. Even if it is closed, that would just set us back a day. I just hope they don't decide to take the rest of the week off.

Ok back to reading ...

Sorry for the serial posting here ... if I could edit prior posts I would.

My OCD is kicking in again ... I was hoping to organize ALL the documents needed for our visit to Juarez in a clean folder complete with separator tabs containing descriptions in Spanish in front and English in back. I just noticed that organization goes a long way for the CDJ visit.

Except the folder I was hoping to use has some metal parts to it (circled in red in the second photo below). Will this be problem?

They *may* not let that in. As long as your fiance can find the forms they ask for, that's all that matters.

Simple solution, Ronin...they sell folders that are similar but with NO metal parts on them. Cheaply, too.

I just separated and put tabs on everything so my husband would be able to find everything. We went through the package several times.

But a fin de cuentas, he got so nervous at the interview and was making such a mess of the paperwork, that she had to take the whole thing from him and take out what she needed.

Need some help here. Im planning my trip to Juarez soon (oct) but I've heard different prices that the taxis charge over there. I've heard from 200 pesos to $50 dollars a trip! Anyone been to Juarez lately and confirm the prices and put that concern to rest?

Congrats Allie!! ... kitkat for someone that has contributed SO much to this forum, I truly hope your situation works out soon. I know I should already know this but what is the reference to the 2 years?

onofre, I may be mistaken but the going rate to and from the airport to the general area of the consulte should definitly NOT be US$50. My friends said that they caught a cab themselves and got ripped off. They had to stay another night since there were no buses and the next time, they asked the hotel to get a cab for them and the price was much more reasonable (do not remember specifically). At the bus station, I believe there is a specific cab station where the prices are posted so they can't scam you.

Two years until you have to lift conditions on the green card. It's conditional because they haven't been married for more than two years (same for all fiances of course).

If you check any hotel website close to the consulate in CDJ you'll see information on the cost of taxis from either airport to the hotel.

http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/h.../transportation

Abraham Gonzalez (CJS)

Distance: 7 MI / 11.27 KM South to Hotel

Taxi Charge (one way): $20.00 (USD)

Time by taxi: 15 minutes

El paso international airport (ELP)

Distance: 9 MI / 14.48 KM South to Hotel

Taxi Charge (one way): $50.00 (USD)

Time by taxi: 20 minutes

The big cost is going back to ELP because the wait at the bridge.

The big cost is going back to ELP because the wait at the bridge.

That would depend on whether or not they intend to cross immediately and which bridge they are required to cross at. They could certainly choose to go elsewhere in Mexico and then fly directly from another city to their first POE.

immigrate2US.net

For the Mexico folks, is visajourney or immigrate2US more helpful for you all? I have been using visajourney consistently, and have received most of my info from them. I am new at immigrate2us and just wanted to know if y'all have any particular links (I noticed kitkat's links listed) that woud be helpful to a filer for Mexico.
