Nigeria is a very difficult embassy with a high number of fraud cases. Marriage on the first meeting is certainly a red flag. Probably better to make a second trip and document the entire relationship, photos with him, the family, neighbors, possibly even with newspapers in the photo to show the dates, phone logs, chat logs, affidavits from friends and family.

How long have you been talking with him online/on the phone before going there? How long do you plan on staying when you go to visit? Are there any other things that they would consider "red flags"? Going to meet him for the first time and marrying him during the same visit is not the only thing they will look at. It is just a small part of the big picture. There will be at least a year to wait during the petitioning process before the interview, so you could plan another visit in that time period. And then evidence of that can be presented at the time of the interview. Best of luck and have a great trip to Nigeria!

I agree meeting for the first time & then marriage definite red flag! I'm sure it has been done before by others with a success but I wouldn't recommend it. However, this is the man you love. What ever decision you two make together I pray GOD will guide you both to eachother's arms.

God Bless You Both.

Thank you for replying to my most. We have been together for quite some time now. We have chat logs but not proof of phone calls bcz we both use phone cards, but we chat always. And as for the visit that's eat bothers me bcz I don't want to quickly file a petition and get a denial. My plans are to visitat least 4 to 5xs but I was concerned about filing on the first visit or wat do you think?

I have been tracking closely visa approvals both here and in the southern California Nigerian community ( for over a decade off line ) . The fraudsters have moved from letters from some gold heavy prince to trolling the web for a wife based green card ( sure beats the DV lottery ) and the consulate knows it. They also know no matter how many man years you have chatted online that it can all be a con job and if you just stop in for a quickie meeting and marriage the chances of it lasting 5 years is lower than the chances of winning the DV lottery.

Before you travel I would recommend some reading for you

I Do Not Come to You by Chance by Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani

A Culture of Corruption by Daniel Jordan Smith

Those that will scam you for the green card sometimes already have plans to leave before they leave Nigeria. They have a wife that they left behind ( not that you will know of ) or in an extreme case I know of the couple "ended" their marriage , each found someone online to "fall for" in the same geographic area , came to the US and somehow reconnected here. Newbies here don't like to hear what I say but those that have been around have watched and have seen the ones that laughed at me find out that I have no reason to lie about this. Look at the Nigerian portal, of the top 10 ( I am on it twice ) half were scammed for a green card. The failure rate is smaller for Nigerians intermarrying ( although some are doing it for non romantic reasons ) and is dismal for older , nearly menopausal woman in a marry me quick relationship with a 20 or less man.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Ok here's the thing. I don't want y'all misinterpret wat I am asking. I know that I have prove my relationship that's not what I'm asking. I am going to visit several more times after the first visit. Where my concern is to when would be the right time to file the petition. I know that one visit won't get approved.

Thanks for your comment, but unfortunately the above response is way off from the question.
