Record of Vaccinations

My fiance and I are looking over all the information that we will need for the interview stage and he mentioned that he doesn't have any record of his vaccinations. Apparently in Chile they never gave you copies of any of that and he cannot go to the doctor to get it since no one knows where he went to get those vaccines. I've heard that most of those vaccines are for children and if you are an adult (my fiance is 30 years old) you do not need a record of them since you are required by law to receive them as a child. Is this true? Does he need a record of his vaccinations or not? And if so what can we do since he doesn't know where he was vaccinated. Also he was in the marines and they had to give him full medical workups every few months. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!!! :)

Technically the vaccine is optional for K-1, however required at AOS. Best thing to do is find out if any needed vaccine is included with the medical cost. If not, bring extra cash and pay for whatever they recommend. Doing nothing will require you to see civel surgen in USA in order to fill the vaccine requirement.

Susana and I had the same question. My fiancé's doctor died recently, and all of his records since he was a little kid don't exist. He called a government worker (not exactly sure who) who said that the laws regarding which vaccines are necessary haven't changed in many years, and so as long as he has the scars in his left arm (which he does), she would be happy to write an official letter stating that he has received his childhood shots.

We know that he won't need these vaccines for the K-1, but in order to make is AOS process easier, we want to make sure that he can get the USCIS doctor to fill out the necessary form when he goes for his K-1 medical appointment. Any advice on what he could bring besides the government letter that would make it more likely for the doctor to fill out the vaccine form? If the doctor won't do it, will he need to get any shots before he can enter the US or adjust his status?

If it is possible to get the ones that are needed for AOS at your K-1 medical and get them marked off on your DS-3025, then do so. It will be easier that way. You will not have to find a civil surgeon in the US and get the I-693 filled out. It is a big hassle for a lot of people. Most civil surgeons insist on another medical exam, even though it is not required, and overcharge. You only need one in a series to file for AOS. The required vaccines are, MMR, Tdap/TD, varicella(unless you already had the chickenpox) and the flu shot(only during flu season Oct.- Mar.)

If you get vaccines after your K-1 medical, you will need to see a civil surgeon in the US and get the vaccinations transcribed to an I-693. If you can get them before or at the K-1 medical, then do it that way and have them marked off on your DS-3025. Ask for a copy of the DS-3025 if they do not give you one.
