After Getting CR-1 Visa

Can anyone help me with this?

My wife and I are working on her CR-1 visa as of now (just turned in affidavit of support) and I had a question about her status

When she finally gets her VISA and is allowed to come to the states, and gets a work permit and all that. What will her status be in Japan (her home country)? I've read on here that an adult cannot have dual citizenship, so if she wants to go back to Japan will she be treated as an American tourist? or will they see her as a Japanese citizen even though she's gone through the process for CR-1? I'm kind of confused as to if the CR-1 status makes her a US citizen, and if so what will her rights to Japanese citizenship be?

Thanks in advance.

CR-1 status does not make her a US citizen. To become a US citizen, she will first have to remove the conditions on her visa (after 2 yrs of living in the US) to have a permanent green card. After that, she can pursue citizenship with the N-400 process after 3 years of residing in the US, based on marriage to a US citizen. Permanent residency is different than citizenship. I don't know much about Japanese nationality law, but I know that having a US green card does not make her a US citizen.

Long story short, we have a complicated case. We've been at this for nearly 5 years. You can read our story here. I highly recommend our attorney Laurel Scott, as well as attorneys Laura Fernandez and Lizz Cannon .

Filed I-130 via CSC in Feb 2008. Petition approved June 2008. Consular interview in Mexico, Oct 2008, visa denied, INA 212a6cii. We allege improper application of the law in this case.

2012, started over in Seoul: I-130 filed DCF on 7/2, I-130 approved 8/8, Medical at Yonsei Severance 11/20, IR1 appointment in November 2012.

CRBA filed 1-3-13 at Seoul for our daughter

Actually, she's removing conditions on her status. The visa is dead and gone once she has a green card. Visas are used to "enter" countries. CR1 is both a visa category and an immigration status.
