Is it true that London will not issue an IR-1 visa unless the USC spouse has a rental agreement. Both moving from UK. Plenty of evidence of moving domicile to US, but no actual rental agreement, due to not having rented anything yet!

Is this a deal-breaker?

Who said that? All you need to do, is show INTENT of domicile Tiekey. And that is all.

We got a "rental agreement" between us and my mother-in-law in writing because it's our intention to stay with her a few months till we have jobs etc.

Yup. I wrote a letter to the consulate to show at the interview what I was doing to re-establish domicile, and included a line that my parents had agreed to house us on arrival. No rental agreement or even a "rental agreement" (wink wink). Whoever told you a rental agreement is required has been doing bath salts.

Its not true at all! We wont be having one. We will be using a job offer for my husband though. Its a good thing to have if you dont have much else. It can just be drawn up with parents to make things easier. But is by no means necessary.

The I-864EZ is a simpler version of the I-864. It is only suitable if you don't need a second sponsor, you are not self-employed, you don't need assets, and you have a W-2 form. I brought an I-864 and an I-864EZ just in case. I wanted to use the I864-EZ because simpler forms have less chance of going wrong, but because I considered the possibility that we may need to use assets (in case they didn't accept that my wife's income would continue) I brought the I-864 too. If you are not sure if you qualify to use the I-864EZ then it's better to use the I-864.

Yes, since you're using a joint sponsor, you'll need to use the I-864. Good luck and keep us updated!
