What happens at the port of entry?

My wife and step daughter flew in to Detroit. Could have been a giant issue, but the immigration folks were polite and courteous. It seems that the US Embassy in Manila had given both my wife and daughter K1 visa's. My step daughter should have been K2. Even with that problem and getting it straightened out, they were out of immigration in about an hour. They did tease my wife about sending her 14 year old daughter to the states on a K1 visa to get married.

LOL! So glad it went smoothly.

Detroit was also very courteous to my husband. He came on a tourist visa for a 2 month visit (here right now) and they asked him several questions. They didn't give him any trouble. My husband answered very honest about his intention to visit now, and already applied for I130 etc. I don't know how much they actually knew about his status, but it must have been something since he came through Detroit the other time as well with no questions. He didn't even show his return ticket, which he left the print out at home. he told them he forgot it and they still gave him no trouble. If I have a choice I might bring him through that POE on the way here when its time to stay.

I know its pretty much irrelevant to the OP and a permanent entry to the US but I wanted to second the praise of Detroit immigration for being very fair.

Really they can still send people back?? that seems a bit ridiculous..do any of u know someone who's actually

been sent back?.. and what questions where asked? i'm not worried about missing my connecting flight

since Houston is where i live..also my husband and i have been married for 2 yrs this past april.. but his

visa still says CR1.. are we still gonna have to go through the removal of conditions?? plz help on this one

You may want to contact USCIS about his visa. He should've been given an IR-1 since his visa was issued after you had been married 2 yrs. Yes, they can still send ppl back but I doubt your husband would have any problems.
