Passport via outreach program

For anyone who has gotten a new passport from the San Francisco (or other) outreach program... how long did it take from the time you paid your $60 (plus $19 for pre-paid return envelope) to receive your new passport? Not just a name change, but a whole new one. We were told about 60 days or so, but wonder if the process is actually faster on average?

TIA

I went to a different state but got mine in 40 days. $19 for mailing the new passport to you???? :wow: I only paid $6 in December - did you have it expedited?

I had no choice... they had us fill out our home address, then collected $79 from us. I'm assuming 60 for the passport and 19 for mailing. Kinda sad that it's $25 and a 1-week in the PI... but I guess it beats having to pay $1500 to fly to San Francisco or the PI just to get it. 40 days isn't too bad, I guess. Thanks!

That is USPS Express Mail Flat Rate . If you did not bring your own self-addressed envelope, the consulate will provide the envelope for $19. They just round it off from $18.95.

You can't bring your own pre-paid envelope, because nowhere can you find the FROM: address until you get to the outreach. Yes, I could have gotten the address then, went out and bought the pre-paid, then went back the next day, but it wasn't worth it to me. I just paid.

Really. I did bring my own two pre-paid envelopes for my boys (minor 3 y/o & 2 y/o) passport applications during the outreach program. But they only took one envelope. You don't necessary need to write anything on the FROM portion, only the TO ( your home address).

When I tried to buy a pre-paid envelope from the USPS, they needed a FROM zip code to know how much to charge so the postage was right. But I couldn't get that until I went to the outreach folks.

We printed out the San Francisco Consulate address & showed that to the post office guy. He looked it up on his computer, grab the stamps and put it on the envelopes.
