We couldn't afford a trip for me to go, but my wife went went through the interview alone without a flaw. She said talking with the CO was like talking with a friend. We got married in the Philippines though, prior to filing, so I don't know if that makes it easier or not at interviews.... But there was no need for me to be there. We had been in a relationship a long time and she knew all about me for answering questions, and I provided her with any information she could possibly need for the interview, and all the T's were crossed and all the I's dotted prior, so was no big deal. The CO asked her what I did for a job, and she told her. Then the CO said "I don't know what that job is all about ;) can you tell me?" So she just told her all the details of what I do for work, simple, since we talked about work often.

I would have gone though if we could have afforded it, just to be with her and help her carry things and help her relax more. But she didn't want me to go there.

I also attended my wifes initial and final interview. They like that kind of stuff, but really its all on the CO. I have heard of them asking the spouse/fiance to have a seat so they can speak with the applicant alone, then call up the petitioner later, but never-the-less, its encouraged!

I attended my then fianee's interview and I am glad I did. The CO was from the town right next to ours in Michigan. He had never had a couple from so close to his home town. It made for a very easy interview experience.

I had hoped to go, but even though I wasn't there, my fiancé had no troubles. She said the Philippine's lady who screened them wasn't super friendly, but the CO was super nice, laughing with her, very friendly.

I don't know that it has much of an outcome on the decision to grant the visa or not. It shouldn't. But if you have something 'iffy' or something you're worried about, being there probably doesn't hurt.

I suppose being there makes it clear that you're willing to spend the money to be there, the likelihood of it being a real relationship is greater. But my fiancé said that most of the people there didn't seem to have their fiancé with them.

So for sure it's not crucial.

Yes they allow, you can't bring any gadget's but your american fiance can as long as he bring his passport during your interview, and it helps if your fiance is with you. same with mekicking.gifkicking.gif

Goodluck

I think it's important that the petitioner attend the interview if the petitioner is going to try to use a joint sponsor, or if the petitioner's income is borderline.
