If you put it in the file, it may be read. If it's something you don't want other people to read, then don't put it in the file.

Just sort out your chats and email that did not divulge so much personal information, what important is the time stamp of your conversations.

You may edit out personal contents. We blackened portions of emails with a permanent marker. During my interview yesterday, the American consul asked to see pictures of me and my fiance, but no longer asked for emails, chats, or other correspondence.

You have no privacy when you petition someone.

Surely you must have a couple of emails and chats per month which are not X-rated.

They can read it, they need to verify that is it communication between you two or you could just send pages and pages of spam you got

Similarly, if you think that is an invasion of privacy be warned they can ask pretty much anything at you interview including questions about your sex life etc.

Edit: If you don't want them to read your sexual communications, do not include them or black out the parts you do not want them to see.
