Lockbox?

I'm a newbie here so bear with me. I just sent my I-129 for my fiance in the Philippines, to the "lockbox" facility in Texas. I'm not clear on what exactly the lockbox will do with my packet. Is my packet actually opened there? Or is it simply then forwarded on to one of the service centers. I have done quite a bit of reading here but not sure if the "lockbox" stop is the actual start of the process or not. Thank you very much for any insight.

I sent my I-129F packet to the Texas Lockbox in March. They immediately forwarded it to the Vermont Service Center. The service center that processes your petition is determined by where you live in the US.

Soon you should receive your NOA1 email and letter telling you where your petition is sent next.

You would have submitted an I-129F; the form I-129 is for a different category.

The service center that processes your petition is determined by where you live in the US.!

That's not always the case, I have seen other members from Atlantic Coast states report having their file sent to California (I have yet to hear of Pacific Coast state residents having their files sent to Vermont).

WOW, you want to get out your red teacher pen and check our spelling too? If you look at closely you will see their petition is for a K-1. I was more than willing to overlook their omission of an "F" to help them. As for my response about which service center receives the petition, maybe I should have added the qualifier "typically".

I thought we were here to help and support each other. At least that is my purpose here.

if the OP is filing for k1 petition he should fill up the form i-129F not i-129

i-129f is petition for fiance

i-129 is petition for nonimmigrant worker.

I'll reply to your question. The Lockbox in Dallas, TX is exactly what you think it is; simply a sorting facility. They receive all the petitions for K1 there, and then forward it to the appropriate Service Center.

DHS/USCIS Issues NOA1... where they send it from exactly, I don't know and it shouldn't be important.

Once you get NOA1, you'll have a receipt number that will start with EAC or WAC.

EAC means your petition is being handled by the Vermont Service Center and WAC means it's being handled by the California Service Center.

Honest mistake there, but yea there's actually quite a significant difference between the I-129 and I-129F. Depends if you want a fiance to come marry you or a physics professor to come lecture you

As for the lockbox, it's just a sorting facility. The NOA1 comes directly from the service center. Most petitions go to CSC regardless of where they're from, but roughly half of east coast petitions go to VSC. I have never seen a west coast petition go to VSC. CSC is simply a much larger service center and capable of handling far more petitions.
