Yay!! I got an email from NVC stating that they have given us a case number!! One step closer to bring my husband here :dance: I'm working on getting my papers together for the I 864. I don't meet the requirements so my parents will co sponsor me.

Anyone going through the same thing as me? My husband lives in Pakistan. Does anyone know how much longer will it take?

From here until the visa interview, the timing depends on how you manage the NVC stage. Follow the shortcuts in the WIKI. However, once the interview occurs, you'll be in another black hole called "Administrative Processing" or AP. That can be from a few weeks to six months or more. Sometimes it's more than a year.

pushbrk is right... Pakistani males go through AP most of the time after interview. My husband is one of the rare lucky ones that did not have to go through this. I know several couples from Pakistan that had their interviews months before ours and they are still waiting, while my husband has been here for about 9 months now. A good portion of these couples have been waiting over a year. I fully expected and was prepared for AP, as I had heard it was mandadory for Pakistani males, so I did not expect and was not fully prepared for my husband's arrival (I was living with a roomate and had to bring him into that situation, but I really wanted to have an apartment set up before he came, but I was happy anyway) I can tell you that after our case was complete at NVC, his interview was scheduled for 7 weeks later. Good luck!

This definitely just made me depressed :crying: sigh. Okay inshallah hoping everything goes well. I was hoping that he'd be here by august.. Or September at the latest.

Maybe next August or September!! Sorry, I know it sucks!! Is there a possibilty you could have a visit with your hubby? When we thought we were going to be in AP we were planning a trip for me to go see him. (but it worked out that he got his visa before that planned trip) When we thought it was not possible, we were very happy and excited making plans for my trip to see him. If this is an option for you, I would go for it! It will help keep smiles on your faces rather than tears!

I dont know how true this is, but one of the things that I have heard a few times is the immigration considers; education and career of the beneficiary an important aspect of the immigration process. I have 3 brother in laws, two of whom are Dr's they had no issue with the AP process another who is an engineer whom also had no AP time either.

Yeah, I don't think education has any bearing on AP. My husband is educated, but not advanced educated and he was only 21 when his visa was issued with no AP. AP I heard is mandatory for Pakistani males, but I do not think this is true because we did not get AP. I think it has to do with how common your name may be. It may have gotten a hit in their data base, so they have to do more extensive checking. You all know how common names are in Pakistan, so this could be possible. I could be totally wrong, but there really doesn't seem to be a solid reason why one person gets AP or who doesn't, all we can do is specualte.

About females, yes there is a good possibility a female can get AP. Until recently, it was not very common, but now it seems that more and more females are also put in AP... although the AP seems to be much shorter in duration than that of males.

I spoke to my lawyer & she said shes never had a problem with AP in pakistan. Hoping for the best. I still have loads of time before they even schedule the interview but can't blame a girl for wanting to see her hubby soon. & to answer your previous question: I really can't go to see him right now. I'm a full time student (23 years old) and I work as well. So me leaving to see him temporary wouldn't be a good idea. Still determined to see him this year in the US! :)

Pray for us.

how many casefiles has yer lawyer pushed through Islamabad?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

I don't know exactly how many....but she's handled cases for family friends and all together it was for 8 people. 7 from Pakistan and 1 from Dubai.

Do yourself a favor and expect AP.

Um.... Gee thanks. So what no one thinks positively. It's pretty disgusting... I was thinking having a website like this.. People would show moral support since they are going thru the same situation.

No one is trying to be disgusting or hurtful. They are merely telling you what to expect. I sincerely hope that you do not get AP, but the fact is that it is nearly impossible for a male applicant out of Islamabad not to endure AP. We are proof that everyone does not get AP, but I only know of us and one other couple out of the dozens of people I know personally that did not get AP. Hope for no AP, but please be prepared for it. I believe there is an Islamabad AP tracker on the site... please look into it!
