Hi all! I have a question, my GC expired tomorrow but got 1 year extension already,and I'm wondering do I have to update my employer about it?I am employed, should I update them?is the SSN need update too? Thank you and replied truly appreciated.

It would be good for your employer to have a copy of the extension letter in the personnel file.

No update needed for the SSN.

Wife was in same situation Aug2011 - Feb2012... We kept the letter but, did not notify the employer.

However, the employer has a copy of the required I9 documents. I don't think most employers review

the expiration dates on your id related documents.

Employers of course won't look at your expiration date because they have many more important things to do. However, as a legal permanent resident and an employee, you should notify them about your status. Dont let them find out it some day and suspect you work here illegally. It's not good!

I told them and gave a copy of my NOA1 even they didn't ask it, cuz I don't want any trouble later on.Thank you all so much
