Proof of having met in past two years

Hi all!

My boyfriend and I are planning to go for the K-1 Visa since it's relatively faster (I hope!). We are starting the process real soon but I'm really concerned on the "proof of having met in the past 2 years" part since we last met each other in person in 2009.

Here's a summarized version of our relationship:

  1. We met online around 10 years ago.
  2. He came to visit me in Malaysia in 2008 for three months - Nov until Dec 2009
  3. I came to visit him in the US in 2009 for 6 months - May until Oct 2009
  4. But we chat/talk online 24/7!

And it's 2012 now, it has been 3 years since we last met in person, is this going to effect our application? I can provide with other proofs (emails, chat logs, snail mails, pictures from 3 years ago, etc) saying that we have an ongoing relationship. Will these be enough? Please help.

It takes a lot of money having to fly back and forth so him coming here or me going there just to prove that we've met in person this year isn't really an option right now.

p/s: I'm a newbie here, so if my post is in the wrong subforum, kindly move it to the appropriate one. Thank you soo muchh!

Remember that pictures are secondary evidence, so you want to make sure you have passport stamps, bank statements with purchases done wherever it'll be you meet again, boarding passes, hotel receipts (if any).

Time stamps on pictures are not necessary. You just need to be sure to write, on the back, where they been taken, when and who all are in the picture. You can also make a collage on the computer, just make sure you add a description (same: time, where, who) for each picture you selected for it.

Might as well do the time stamps since they are going to have to meet again anyway. I would understand if they didnt have too but every effort counts =)

Most cameras do not put time/date stamps on photos anymore. It isn't about effort or a lack of it.

Im sorry... what camera does not let you put time stamps on it????? I import/export digital cameras, you just need to turn it on in the settings menu

unless you walking around with a disposable camera try again.

but yes the time stamps are optional!!!!!!!!!! :ot2:

A lot of cameras do not have the feature. Mine doesn't.

Most of the photos I sent with our petition were taken on either my Android or a friend's iPhone and that wasn't a problem. Don't get hung up on timestamps on photos, though. As mentioned, it's secondary evidence and you don't have to send a photo catalogue of your relationship...just a few to show further evidence of meeting.

As for the updated news, I've already booked a return ticket (Oct 2012) to see him in the US to help him filling the I-129F petition! So I can start collecting this trip's itineraries, dated pictures, receipts, etc and use them as evidences right?

I mean I CAN use this trip's itinerary right?

Actual printed out trip itineraries are not solid evidence. You most importantly want to save boarding passes and make copies of your passport stamps. Save receipts from hotels, ATMs, tickets to places you visited together that show the date you went, and things of that nature. Photos are secondary, and no timestamps on the photos needed. You can take photos of you together in front of well known landmarks though. You should also try and get photos of you together with his family and friends too. Follow the guide here on VJ for filing, and good luck!
