Today, the USCIS sent me a text message saying my file was modified and when I looked in the email they sent...it was approved! What a relief. Now they will send the file to the NVC. Does that take 4-6 weeks? Who sends the file to the Embassy, USCIS or NVC? Do we need to do something to get an interview date or is that scheduled automatically? I have been so focused on the I-129F NOA1 and NOA2 that I did not study up on the next steps. I know each case is different, but is it reasonable to expect my fiancee to arrive before the end of the year?.

I was told by USCIS that cases are sent in groups to NVC after they put a bar code on them. The actual mailing doesnt take 6 weeks but it may take that long or longer for NVC to input the bar code which begins the review process at NVC.

NVC will complete the review and notify you. K 1 cases go quickly thru NVC. NVC then sends the case to BKK. Cases arrive at the consulate which is across the street from the embassy. They forward the case on to the visa section. The visa section then notifys your fiance to send in the Packet 3 info which triggers the interview date.

Knowing where the case is will help you decide what to do & when. You can for example download the P 3 info today. However you must not send it in prior to the visa section having the case. If you send the info early they will throw it out because they wont have a case to match it to.

You should prepare your 134 form now. Add to it a transcript of your last tax return.

If the docs are done correctly the interview should be easy for her. These case are decided before the interview unless there is some serious problem.

BKK sees about 700 cases per month. They only work on these K type cases two days per week. They are always busy so you wont know for quite awhile when she will interview. It should be prior to the end of the year.

Call the NVC in a week or two (the forums on NVC can give you a better idea of when to do this). Get your case #. Once you have that case # you can contact BKK via email to determine IF and WHEN they have received your application.

As soon as they have it, as Ning stated, you can send in Packet 3 you have downloaded from the website and they will schedule your interview (Packet 4). I would highly recommend doing this as many people never get a packet 3, and you can start working on it immediately. Just don't send it until they confirm they have your case.

You can download the Thailand packages here:

http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas/packets.html

There has been some confusion if all forms need to be completed - maybe someone can advise if this is the case.
