Im pretty sure that page has been on the Mtl Website for many years.

You're probably right. We just never had a reason to visit it because there was nothing remotely helpful to read.

For all wanting to know this is what the Consulate sent back in regards to the petitioner accompanying the beneficiary at the interview:

Good day,

The petitioner is not required to attend the interview. However, American Citizens are allowed to accompany applicants if space constraints permit and they bring their U.S. passport. Also, as part of our security procedures, all backpacks, bags, luggage, or large purses are prohibited inside the U.S. Consulate. Any visitor who refuses to follow these security procedures is prohibited from entering the Consulate facilities.

Hope this helps all who wanted to know.

Blessings In Jesus

My Hubby accompanied us last year without any issue and there were quite a few people there. They even asked him a few questions :o! Just make sure that they have their U.S Passport handy.

Best of luck.

I love this part:

'if space constraints permit '

Hahahahahahaha....for those of us who've already been, we all know it's a very large room with many chairs so there's basically always room.

Technically speakign those rules are for NON us citizens i believe. Since it's a AMERICAN consulate, they won't refuse entrance to American Citizens.

Had my interview this morning at the US Consulate in Montreal. My american fiancé was present, let in with his american passport and accompanied me through the whole process without a problem.
