Medical in Manchester, UK?

We actually live about an hour's coach ride away from Manchester.

Is there a place when it comes time for my husband's medical

that he can get it done in Manchester or Liverpool?

Or does he have to go to London?

It'll be really expensive to go down ... is it possible to

get the medical done 2-3 days before the interview so we

only have to make one trip?

He would need to go to London to have the Medical. My husband lived in Birmingham and would take the coach down early in the morning, set the appointment for afternoon, and then get the coach back after the medical. The medical actually is pretty fast to have done. He never stayed the night and national express had very reasonable prices on coach tickets if you book online.

I was afraid of that. Birmingham however is alot closer to London than Blackburn

Knightsbridge Doctors in London is the sole contractor for Embassy medicals. Instructions on how to schedule an appointment there are included with packet 3. I would suggest looking into Megabus for a much cheaper price to London. Jodie paid 9 pounds for each way trip and that included train. The national express is much more expensive and takes longer since it is only coach. Here is there website: http://uk.megabus.com/

"The medical examination is performed by an Embassy approved physician at one of two medical centers in London. The medical examination cannot be performed by the applicant's own physician. The medical results are couriered to the Embassy within 5 workdays of the examination.

The medical examination must take place before the visa interview. The Embassy will not schedule the interview until they have received the results of the medical examination."

So it would depend on how long it would take them to get the results sent to the embassy.

Jodie and I are sitting here trying to remember but we think the DS2001 form to schedule your interview ask for the date of your medical exam.

Yes you have to go to London I had to fly to London the night before from Northern Ireland with two kids but I got it done and it was straight forward. I had to fly to London a month or so after for the interview but it was worth it in the end.

Unfortunately London like everyone else said. But National Express are often reasonably priced or Mega Bus. The train is very expensive though.

Totally ... I remember coming on the train from Heathrow when I came to visit

before I moved here. I think we'll be quite happy with National Express.

I remember last summer ... they had a promotion for like £9 one way to

anywhere in the UK. Fingers crossed they have another deal like that

Hopefully they will! They have something at the moment with a one way trip for £5.

Ive been looking at the cheapest way down there because i need to go 3 times really because my daughter needs to get her US passport but its so expensive to travel that its cheaper to book a hotel and stay 2 days and do her passport and the medical at once.

I had to get back from heathrow once too. I have to say after waiting 4 hours for the national express, i would have happily paid any amount they requested just to get on the train!

As you are doing a spouse visa, it's not actually true that they will not schedule an interview until you have had the medical. NVC will schedule the interview once your case is complete there. However, the clinic told me that they allow up to four working days for the results of the medical to reach the Embassy.

I live about 6 hours from London.

National express is £25 for a return ticket. Leaves here about 8am.

Totally doable.

I'll be coming from Cardiff, and the busses and trains are hellishly expensive aside from Megabus. Keep a good look out for vouchers, they often come up!

They used to do it so that you could do your medical and visa on the same day/next day, but not allowed anymore
