Hello VJ-ers! We are thankfully very close to the end of the first leg of the journey - at least we'll be able to go through the next steps together!

Here's my question. Reading consulate reviews I read that they fingerprint you after your interview and wait for some kind of results before issuing the K1 visa. My fiancee has a B1/B2 visa issued to her in 2007 and they fingerprinted her then - will she need to get fingerprinted again?

Just wondering due to our travel plans and ticket prices. Thank you !

It isn't a good idea to make travel arrangements until you have the actual visa in hand. You never know if at the interview if you will be missing something or perhaps they will request more evidence. They DOS clearly states not to make any travel arrangements, or for the beneficiary to leave employment or cancel any leases where they are living until the visa has been approved.

Never buy your ticket or make plans until the visa is in hand. Yes she will be fingerprinted, she will have a print scanned again when she enters, she will be fingerprinted for her AOS, again for her ROC, again for her citizenship. Fingerprints are currently the best available way to insure a person is who they are supposed to be.
