What did they say when you called them back?

Dear Sir/Madam:

Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) has received your

inquiry and the attached I-797 Notice of Action - Approval Notice.

Unfortunately, we do not have record of receiving your approved petition

from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The NVC will contact

USCIS on your behalf for information on the location of this petition.

not today, i think 3,4 daus ago.

Have you called them back to see what the situation is? Maybe 3-4 days isn't long enough for them to make any progress on this situation but you won't know unless you ask. Have you called USCIS to see if they have received contact from NVC? If you call USCIS ask to speak to tier 2, they will be able to look at your case.

I got my NOA2 approval on May 9, and NVC still has not assigned me a case number either (so I am at almost a month waiting for my case number). The person on the phone said they recently fell behind in May, that there was a large influx of new cases from USCIS, and to keep calling them back. So hopefully you, and I, get that case number in a few days.

I will, thank you very much for your time.

I have teh same problem... I am just a little ahead of you..

This is what you should do.

1) send an email to CSC-NCSC-FollowUp@uscis.dhs.gov

2) contact the congressman in your area, and ask for help.

Today I received an answer from the NVC research unit, and they told me that my case was actually forwarded to the NRC (National Records Center). They will review my case again, and then send it to the NVC.

Remember to be practive... DO not wait on them... I have sewen cases that have take over six months... so use all your resources.

Sounds like the NVC is a bit behind in assigning case numbers is all. I wouldn't panic yet. Ours took a couple of weeks after the USCIS forwarded them the paperwork. I think actually it was closer to 20 days to get a case number. Sounds like they backed up.

Be a bit patient, I'm sure they'll get to it soon.
