My fiance went for his interview on December 1,2011 and our case was returned to USCIS for processing:

Today I received a text letting me know that the USCIS has updated my case status. I go to the website and look up my case and it tells me that my case has been reaffirmed. Great news! Tears of joy because I have been waiting six months for my case to be received by USCIS. Five hours later I get another text message of a status update and this one says my case is in review. What!!!!!! So I call them and they tell me they dont know which one is right and that I just have to wait and see. Anyone else had anything like this happen before???? The lady told me that if it is in review it could be a year before they they finish reviewing it. I am now calling at this moment again hoping that someone with a little more compassion and understanding answers the phone.

I have read of people getting similar updates. I got an approval update via email from USCIS but NVC was not tracking the update. I called them anyways and asked to speak to Management and they were able to track the case. To this date the USCIS website says our case is in initial review and my husband arrived last August. I hope they figure it out this can be such a challenging process. Consider getting help from your elected officials.

Call them...reaffirmation email was probably a mistake. Same thing happened to me when our k1 was denied...DOS even told me it was reaffirmed, only to find out a week later it was a mistake.
