:goofy: Hello. Hubby has sent off his N400 to naturalize. His UK passport expires in 2-1/2 years. There will be no problem after he becomes a US citizen for him to renew his UK passport will there? I know he is not denouncing his UK citizenship, but wondered if when sending his passport off to the UK Embassy for renewal they would see he is a US citizen and refuse to renew his UK passport. Just checking. Questions pop into my mind at different times about this process. Thanks! :goofy:

Is dual citizenship legal in the UK? If yes, no problem.

If it's illegal, it'll be a potential issue. However, Barack Obama doesn't send a letter to David Cameron telling him that your husband is now American. So quite how the UK would know beats me.

As far as the US is concerned, it doesn't matter. Once he's a US citizen, he's a US citizen and whatever other citizenship he has will be irrelevant to the US.

The UK is OK (no pun intended) with dual-citizenship. Please see the following link: http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/britishcitizenship/dualnationality/

So your husband will not face any problem to renew his UK passport when the time comes.

I don't know how the UK Embassy would know he's a USC. It's not asked on the form. I doubt the United Kingdom can log into USCIS databases to check everybody that applies.

They won't check and even if they knew, they do not care because the UK is allowing dual citizenship.
