K-1 POE at Vancouver airport?!

I know this sounds weird but Plz read and help me decide.

Im in Korea and got my K1. Im trying to fly in August to my final destination NYC and one way plane ticket is just ridiculously expensive. - Average $1600 with 1 transfer.

Travel agent found me a ticket that transfers at Vancouver thats relatively affordable.

Problem is that my POE will be VANCOUVER as US has their own immigration screening gate there. When i lived in NY my friends and family visited me via same route and they all remembered that they went through immigration/visa gate at Vancouver and when they arrived at JFK there was no visa screenin. So from Vancouver to NY was like US domestic flight.

Now my travel agent said she has co firmed with US embassy in Korea that there is a separate pathway for US transfer passe gers and i will do my immigration process there.

But she also said I should seek more professional and solid answer to this.

I wonder if Vancouver POE will make confusion at JFK or later at a greencard process.

Does anyone have advice for me? Other than this ticket it really is a lot and my whole family is traveling with me which means we are spending fortune just on plane ticket. So im trying to save a bit if i can.

I know some of you would say money shouldnt be a matter. Spend and choose a safer way but then i wouldnt have posted this questio here would I?

I just found this link and it sounds like it's nothing strange to enter through Vancouver.

But why does this person mention EAD? Doesn't that only for someone who's authorized to work in the States?

Does K-1 POE come with EAD stamp? I'm confused even more :S

If the K-1 is stamped at POE it is NOT legal to work with this. This topic is all over VJ. You cannot work with an EAD stamp at POE on a K-1.

Entering from Vancouver is normal tons of people do this and it will not cause problems for immigration or green card AOS papers.

I agree, there is no problem at all, the POE will be Vancouver, that's all. Just make sure you have enough time during your 2 flights, as it can take a while (I don't know how many people is your "whole family" but have at least 2-3 hours between the 2 flights). And yes, flying during summer is VERY expensive, even more if you're flying to NYC!

I traveled on a K-1 visa from Incheon Airport and my last stop was JFK(I only had 1 transfer). If you can ask your fiance to purchase the tickets on orbitz.com or you can do it yourself on orbitz if you have a credit card.It is wayyyyy cheaper that going through a travel agent in Seoul or anywhere in Korea.

Hope this helps :)
