We're still in the beginning of the I-130 process, but I just had a look at DS-230 to see what questions are asked. There are some questions about my past employment and education etc. Now I'm worried that the fact that I have been a stay-at-home mother for the past ten years is going to count against us. Also, I didn't finish my university degree because of getting pregnant in second year.

Since having kids, my husband has supported us. We live frugally, but in all tax years after college, we've always made at least 125% of poverty line for our household size.

I do plan to return to school when I get back to the US as my youngest is almost 5.

It would be interesting to know if there are other people who have been in a similar situation and what your experience was like at the interview.

Your income or education means nothing. You're getting an immigrant visa because you're the wife of a US citizen, not because of work or education. Whether you're a physics professor or a street sweeper, what counts is that your US citizen husband currently makes at least 125% of federal poverty guidelines for your household size. Slightly higher if you're moving to Alaska or Hawaii.

The point of the I-864 Affidavit of Support is that if you move to the US, your husband can prove he has enough money to support you financially, even if you don't work.

The questions on the DS-230 are not used to measure financial/educational eligibility.
