ook, thanks so much,so means the co sponsor do not have to fill the I 864

Is the I-864 required in Ghana?

Refer to your embassy as to whether or not they require the I-864 form. This is usually required in the adjustment of status stage after you are married. However, the same poverty guidelines apply. If you do use a cosponsor, then a separate I-864 form will be needed by the cosponsor as well. I-864A can be used by a cosponsoring household member. You can find more information about poverty guidelines here. Also, check out this link below from the VJ contents.

The US fiance is ALWAYS the primary sponsor, but may have a co-sponsor. If there is a co-sponsor, both the

US fiance and the co-sponsor will EACH have to fill out the affidavit I-134 or I-864 and EACH will have to provide

supporting documentation.

thanks,it wasnt stated in the documents they gave us,but i think we will need a co sponsor so want to know what forms he or she will have to fill.

K-1 uses the I-134. Ghana does not require the I-864 for K-1!!!!!! People were posting this in earlier forums.... for K-1 it is I-134.... and yes both you and the co-sponsor will fill this out for the embassy.

When your loved one is here, after marriage, and you are adjusting status you will use the I-864. (I-864 is used at the embassy level for spouse visas: CR-1 and K-3- even though K-3 is seldom used now)
