The Congress has reinstated the Lautenberg amendment several times after 1996.In July 2011 USCIS stopped authorizing parole for new applicants from Russia based in the Lautenberg and now individuals may continue to seek parole on a case-by-case basis. Then let's stop saying USCIS made a mistake in his case, first of all because we didn't see his file and second the amendment was reinstated several times after 1996.

Well it would not do any good showing up without that letter. It is the final piece of the puzzle before you get the CON (Certificate of Naturalization). At the oath ceremony, you have to hand it over to the clerk before they give you the CON. They actually tell you that as well when you are there.

On April 10, 2012, we scheduled you for your oath ceremony and sent a notice providing the date, time, and location.

anyway i scheduled infopass appointment for may 17 this was the earliest date available for federal plaza.

lets say i decide to go to federal plaza about my questions tomorrow (without infopass) they wont let me in?

Probably not, but if you have nothing better to do, it is worth a try- being turned away at the door is not going to harm your case,

Since I am such a nice guy, for biometrics or for an interview, always dropped my wife and or stepdaughter at the front door, then try to find a place to park and walk in later. They tell me they have to show an appointment letter and their green cards to get in, well nothing for the AOS except the appointment letter. When I walk in, just tell them I am with my wife and/or stepdaughter, never asked me for any ID, just checked I wasn't carrying one of those WMD like a cell phone or a camera.

They tell me where the waiting room is, so perhaps by doing the same, you could get that far. But if you do, will be sitting there all day if you don't have an appointment. They sure never called my name, one time we had to wait 3 1/2 hours before either my wife or stepdaughter was called in.

They do have a secretary, if you ask her any questions, she would want to see your appointment letter.

UPDATE

on may 17th i had infopass appointment at federal plaza

i explained everything to the officer

he told me my case was sent from federal plaza to Queens office

i guess they send it there since there was problem with my GC and i got my GC from Queens office.

so the officer sent service request to queens

yesterday i received this letter from queens

Dear ***** *********

on 05/17/12 you or the designated representative shown below contacted us about your case.

The status of this service request is:

we have received and granted your request to reschedule your appointment date. you will receive a notice within 3 to 6 weeks informing you of your new appointment.

first of all i havent asked them to reschedule any appointments.

or maybe appointment means OATH ?

im little confused because it says not interview not oath ceremony but appointment.

im hoping most likely they mean oath ceremony by that.

what do you guys think?

When something is this important, you have to be persistent. Don't worry about annoying anyone. I would schedule another info pass and go back there so i could get this straightened out once and for all. Although "appointment" COULD mean "oath ceremony" it is too vague. You are not going to be relaxed until you know for sure. I am concerned about the wording "request to reshedule" when, as you said you did not. No need for you to be inconvenienced because an IO was a little confused that day. Just kidding. On Sunday I went to the pharmacy to get my husband's medication. The pharmacist gave me a dosage of 40mg when it should have een only 5mg. If i was not paying attention...well, let me just thank God that i was. I say all that to say this, it is you who is affected by the actions of USCIS, be as proactive as you possibly could be until you come to the end of this journey. All the best with everything. I truly feel your frustration.

Officially, an Infopass is required for any office you intend on visiting. Some are more lax and take you in. Others, such as the ones in NYC are over crowded, and usually are too happy to turn away stray applicants.

The machines are the same as going online. Its simply an online facility provided to you on-site.

Try sneaking in. You might get lucky. The worst that can happen is you'll be turned away. Good Luck.
