This frustrates me even more ... U GOT to be kidding me ...

Nope. There was a time when people were having a turnaround of a week or two, Now that was when the visa first came out, so of course I expect that to change to a month or two. That's a reasonable amount, but of course remember

Texas Service Center closed

Vermont Service Center closed and re-opened in a different location

If i remember correctly, California did as well, so it added more time to it all!

The more I think about it, the more this makes sense to me. People process various petitions at any time. What's to say that "the last one they approved" when they did the data scan was one from April that had been backlogged?, if it truly goes on the last one that they entered into the system it could almost always be way out!

I actually thought about it when I read their explanation above the table there ("2003 xxx"), so it makes perfect sense :)That was the last they processed and let's be honest they are a bit over 5 months time with some petitions so that's what it is! wow we have figured them out! :P

There's probably congressional requirements and legal requirements when it comes to this since it's such a heavily ingrained legal process. Why close the Texas service center? Surely that would have kept things at bay while also

- Bringing in skilled workers who could potentially work, raise capital and keep the economy going

- Create jobs for the needy which, while costing more, would boost the number of potential spending for those coming into the USA,

Or if you want a more sinister way of looking at it, more people that come into the country = more people that can be taxed = more tax revenue from wages, and spending

more tax = revenue stream for government

immigrants tend to be more democrats than republicans. and the republicans are in control of congress. rule #1 always protect your base!

someone was not political savvy enough to request a emergency budget from congress. which they would just have to approve. i know the fact thats how president bush keep getting all those war funds and overruns after overruns...

I'm not sure immigration would be a reasonable request for an emergency budget, In fact unless theres a danger of people being in physical danger (like when the emergency visa was created for things like Haiti) then I can't see an emergency budget being approved for immigration

I'm not sure it's a case of being lazy. There are hundreds of thousands of petitions to approve and sometimes focus has to shift to the ones that are more important or they are more behind on to be fair to everyone. Certain political situations change and visas are granted for those people a little more quickly if they are in danger etc. Personally I'd rather accept a delay if it meant someone could get out of a country where their life is in danger.

Do you have any idea what is the priority of petition? I mean the order of importance. Like is a I-130 have more priority than a K1 or someone petitioning for a child more critical than anything else.

It's crazy madness. I have another friend who filed K1 in November nothing special to it regular processing but she flew through and fiance' left last week for the US. Yes that's correct from filing to POE barely 5 months and another high fraud country. It's like God is smiling on Nigeria. Hey I ain't mad at um. People get approved means I move up in line no matter how long that line might be.

Nope no idea at all, just random speculation, but it stands to reason that they would prioritise based on the size of the backlog and the risk element. Isn't there a petition for refugees? I'd imagine that gets a lot more priority

Hire more people and improve ur services. As simple as that. And if USCIS doesn't have enough money to hire more people (which I highly doubt) then raise the fee ... Personally, I wouldn't mind paying $100 or $200 more if that means I get my visa within 3 months instead of 7 or more. So somebody please explain to me why they don't do it?

Received our NOA1 today - going to Vermont. The website says it's 7.8 months (which was slightly different from what we expected, given Cali is only 5), so makes me wonder how did your fiance come up with that figure of 5 months... I really wish that was it...

I don't, but I also know from what others have said on here that the answers they have had when they call USCIS are very inconsistent. I Believe yes there is an increase in processing time, but a 3-4 month jump does not seem right. There are also others in this thread and the I-129F filers thread who have called USCIS who have said there is no additional delay, some have also been told that there is a fault with the webpage, some have reported the same as you on your call. So really, take your pick of the answers! How do you know with 100% certainty that the information you were given is correct? How do you know with absolute certainty that the information given to other people about their processing times, which is different to what you've been told, is 100% wrong?

Dear Clients, Friends and Supporters,

There is an established procedure whereby you can directly report any incident of misconduct, mistreatment, or allegations of abuse, fraud, waste, or mismanagement in the immigration, visa and customs process. Formal complaints with good cause are taken seriously and help sensitize officials about areas for improvement when abuses and ill treatment occur. Such complaints become part of the official record of the officers involved and the department in issue, and ultimately help to improve the immigration process. Further, such complaints are also usually required before other legal remedies such as court action are deemed appropriate.

Office of Inspector General (OIG), U.S. Department of Homeland Security

If you have knowledge of fraud, waste, abuse, or mismanagement in any Homeland Security program or operation, call, write or e-mail the Office of Inspector General. When making a report, it is suggested by Inspector General's office, that you convey as much information as possible such as: Who? What? Where? How?
