Hello. I was just curious if it is possible to send money from the US to India via Paypal? I just sent my husband $10 today for fun to test this out, as he lives in India. (He has not set up his Paypal account yet). I'm curious how much he would get into his account. I looked up Paypal FAQ's but really couldn't understand it... some places say there is a $.30 plus a percentage, other places say there is a 50 rupee fee, etc. So I really have no clue how this would work, or what the best way for him to receive money would be. I just thought I'd ask in case anyone has tried this. Thanks!

Why not try out Western Union? Very reliable, gets there in 1-3 days, amount as promised. Right now it's 1 USD = Rs. 50.50

Oh okay... thanks for reminding me about Western Union. I didn't realize it was easier than Paypal!

By the way, is there also any way for my husband to send ME money if he chose to do so? It seems there are companies that send money to India, but not many that send money FROM India.

When I was in college, my parents would just do an international wire transfer from their bank to my BOA account. Your husband probably should enquire at his banking center.

PayPal India: The service fee would be 3.9% + 30 cents for each transaction, plus conversion rate is quite bad with PayPal compare to bank rate. If you are sending up to $200 USD, then Paypal is good avenue to send money to India.

Western Union is very good, super easy! But they have minimum fee $100 ( Money-in-minute ) for India. For larger size payment, Bank wire is safe and perfect.

From India to US: Bank wire is good for large size payment. For Small payment: use Indian credit card thru paypal to transfer ( PayPal USA ).

paypal has different levels of accounts, as well.. basic, personal, business, business premiere, personal premiere.. usually the premiere accounts charge a service charge, as it's also possible to do credit card processing as well. so it's different fees per type of account.

Yes, but in India, PayPal has different t & c. They used to allow Indian to receive money as " Personal " for free, but it is no more in India. Due to their new t & c, all account type must have to pay transaction fee, and that receiving money must be withdraw to bank account, and can't be spent for online purchase. Due to PayPal India ridiculous t & c, I have switched my account with PayPal USA.

Western Union is a much better option. Your husband will get the money in a matter of minutes, not days, once you've gone ahead with the transaction. Another option you could consider is an a/c to a/c wire transfer.

By mistake I typed 100 instead of 10.

Here is the correct sentence:

WU minimum fee is $10 USD ( Money-in-minute ) for India.
