Hi all. My wife and I are now at the point in my process where I need to start getting my Police Cert and so on together. I have a driving conviction from 14 years ago that I got arrested for. What exactly do I need to gather in reference to that arrest and conviction? Someone told me I'd need to get the actual court records for the case yet another person mentioned that I wouldn't be able to obtain such records.

Anyone able to shed some light on this for me or point me in the right direction. I live in Northern Ireland if that's of any help. Thanks

loosegee, I have experience with this since we needed the same things from the UK. You will need an official ACPO (police certificate) AND you need to go to the court that convicted you for a MOC (memorandum of convictions) and make sure they stamp it with an official seal of some kind. Order the ACPO online here: http://www.acro.police.uk/police_certificates.aspx (there's a whole application process..takes about 2 wks to get once ordered)

If you can't get to the court you can call them and have your MOC mailed to you (takes about a week). They may tell you they can only go back a certain amount of years. If so, ask if they can give you something in writing stating that, because you need it for US immigration purposes. If you live anywhere outside the UK for 6mos or more, you will also need a police certificate from that country. We didn't send the MOC to the NVC and got an RFE! lol...you will definitly need both, or the letter why you couldn't get the MOC. Also, the documents are only good for 1 year, so make sure you get through the NVC stage before they expire. I ordered ours too early and had to get new ones. Good luck :)

06/22/2012: Medical @ Knightsbridge

06/29/2012: Interview 8am-Result: Pending

October 3, 2011: Emailed checklist response (checklist generated due to typo on Form DS-230)

November 10, 2011: Interview - APPROVED!!!
December 7, 2011: POE - Sea-Tac Airport

September 17, 2013: Mailed I-751 to CSC

September 23, 2013: Received NOA1 in mail (receipt date September 19th)

October 16, 2013: Biometrics Appointment

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
