I-751 Backlog with Vermont Service Center

We filed for the wife's I-751 in February 2012 and she did the bio already. USCIS site says it's typically 6 months for the process but looking at the various posts here on visajourney, it's more like 8.5 months. Does anyone know what's going on? Cali seems to be doing a good job.

It seems no matter which thread you look at, VSC is lagging way back. I've been watching threads from May onwards, and it looks the same for every month following. I am surprised they haven't transferred cases the way it has shaped up.

For example, August filers on VJ show CSC with 28 Applicants, 21 Approved for 75%, yet VSC shows a dismal 27 Applicants, 0 Approved 0%

A friend of mine filed in June, and she only last month was sent an interview letter for April. Making 10 months to interview. That is slow.

We filed in October, at VSC, and from the way it looks it would be June or July before we hear anything.

On the other hand, other types of petitions like the K1, are coming out of VSC quite quickly these days...lol..yet when we were there back in 2008 they were very slow. I guess it's swings and roundabouts, but I sure wish they would get busy on the ROC backlogs.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Obviously, VSC is either lazy or doesn't have enough staff to process the applications in a timely manner. However, I wonder why there is no cooperation between the 2 centers. If VSC can't keep up, why don't they transfer some of their cases to CSC?

Oh please, my case got relocated from CSC to local office, 9 and half month ago.

So far? NOTHING even after a services request were put in, 2 MONTHS AGO.

I've filed my N-400 and contacted my congressman, because as far as the law concern, this can be a process that can be delayed and extended till the end of time.

Do you think it will get to a point where a person could get their citizenship before their ROC? At that point, wouldn't it almost make sense to have two different routes, for those that want citizenship and those that want permanent residency?

I'm at work and thinking on the fly, but who else gets an unconditional card? It doesn't make sense to have a ROC and then turn right around to file citizenship (I know that not everyone goes this route.. some like being permanent residents only).

I want my $500+ to have meant something... Or... if a decision is not made by the time my husband can file for citizenship, the money is applied towards the naturalization application.

They sent me a letter saying my application has been "relocated to local office".

Technically you won't be able to get your citizenship until your ROC is approved. I'm in exact route as you described for your husband. I'm 9+ months into my ROC with no answers so I filed my N-400 earlier last month and I got my bio appointment. What's going to happen is that once the IO/VO recalls my case or during interview, he/she will notice that my ROC is still pending, which then he/she will request an answer from the current IO/VO to finish the case up, basically it's forcing them to make a decision in your ROC.

How USCIS works is a misery.

  • 1 year later...

My case was weird I received a letter dated Sept 10-, 2013 saying that my ROCS case was moved to the California office because they have jurisdiction. I live in Texas and the website says sent the packets to Vermont, which I sent there last July. Is there anything wrong when they send it there? Or is California my "real" processing center?

Vermont has been backlogged for months - some cases are being transferred from Vermont to either Cali or local offices to speed things up and ease the pressure on VSC.
