Dear VJers,

I wonder if we really need to call NVC to ask for the case number?!?!? I mean what will happen if we don't? Do they inform us by text or email/mail or we should get it on the phone? My fiance called them 3 times since our approval but it's not there yet. It's kinda frustrating to call them every day, is there any possibility to hear from them or it's better to keep calling them?

Thank you and wish you all luck!

I had to - I got no letter / email or notice from NVC with my case number and had no information on it from anyone else and you cant have a medical or do anything else without your US embassy case number.

If i didn't call to get the number I could not have completed anything for the rest of the process. Couldn't have even contacted the US embassy for information without the US embassy case number either. Because at that point they don't use the USCIS case number anymore.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Good! To reply to your original question, it really depends on how is the process at your embassy. Some requires it to schedule the medical/appointment, some don't. In my case, I only needed it because it was asked on one form (DS-2001 on packet 3). Let's say it's good to have it, plus they will ask you for it if you call the DOS someday.
