oops, the USCIS "forgot" my application

My congressman did nothing. They kept saying they would do an inquiry, but ~10 days later the USCIS still acknowledged no involvement and told me to wait. At the same time I had finally got so sick of it all that I demanded to speak with a supervisor at the USCIS and basically chewed their ear off. Then they told me (despite saying 6 months is "normal" for a K-1) they would do a service request. Still nothing from that either.

I called my Senator and told them the situation, they apologized profusely and within 30 minutes they called me back to say that they got hold of the USCIS and found my application - it was "forgotten" sitting on a desk that belonged to someone who was transferred. They have given it top priority now and assure me it will be processed by Friday at the latest.

I am still furious with the USCIS and my congressman's office. What can I do? I wish I could have them fired.

The person in the Senator's office, however, will be getting flowers in the mail. (F)

If you have the names of the USCIS people you can report them. If not nothing you can really do cept hope they really did expedite your process since it was their mistake.

Wow... good thing you kept on it... I think that since the process is so dinosaur-ish (having to deal with paper and snail mail), there will always be errors. I think a letter to the USCIS top person may be a good option and just let them deal with the person however they feel.

I would help the person running against your Congressman, and write him to tell why you'll work against him or her.

Thanks!!

So glad I saved all their names and ID numbers. Need to talk to the congressman's office too.

Still, starting to feel like this story might have a happy ending...?
