Yeah, I won't bother calling the consulate. I'll email them and keep calling DoS. Wonder if they really ARE implementing a self-scheduled IR-1/CR-1 interview system? It is an improvement...she didn't say "they've just started working on your case" and she CERTAINLY didn't say "we don't have your file yet", so that must mean they've written something in there! She also said "there's no interview scheduled for you yet", and all I said was "I was wondering if there have been any updates on my file, or if there is anything needed by the consulate that would help them" so...the wheels are turning in my mind now...

I've not heard anyone else talking about the IR-1/CR-1 being able to schedule their own interviews in Canada, so I'm weary about this. Not sure if I should believe it or not as you're the only one that's heard it so far. Or others have heard it but not said anything

I just called the NVC and they said to wait a couple more days for the AOS and IV bills to be sent to my lawyer. We just want to get this proccess moving.

Oh ok i see as the lady at the office informed me last thursday that she will get an answer last friday or today, yuou think i could call or email her?

Yep, just politely email her and tell her what NVC told her. All I'd say is "Dear XXXXX,

I just wanted to follow up with you regarding our expedite request. I have some further information that may help you. When I spoke with NVC today regarding the request, they informed me that there has been no decision made yet. I wondered if you'd heard anything different?

Thank you for your help,

XXXXX"

LOL awesome! Just got an email confirmation from the congressman - our file IS in Montreal, no question about it. She's following up with the consulate now, so I told her what DoS told me (and asked HER for more information too). I told her both the agent and myself were very confused LOL.

I emailed the IV Unit at the Santiago Embassy last night to find out what the next steps will be once they receive our case from the NVC. According to DHL tracking that should be later today. I received a reply this morning that said they will contact us (doesn't say which one or how). The email went on to say that if my wife is in Santiago that she should go to the IV Unit at the Embassy between 8:30-11:30am so they can review her case and give her the remaining documents and instructions. My wife is currently in Santiago this week visiting her mother so she will be going to the Embassy either tomorrow or the next day.

I feel very fortunate at this point to have such an easy embassy to work with. I'm confident that if I was dealing with them from day 1 that the entire process would have taken less than a month.

It definitely sounds possible with that embassy. I'm still flabbergasted each time you talk about how fast the embassy has been and such.
