Need advice on expediting my case

Hello All,

I looked around and couldn't find any advice on how to format a letter requesting expedition of a case. Is there one that anyone would like to share?

Also, I feel that my reasons aren't good enough to get our case expedited, but I think I may try... nothing ventured nothing gained. My husband still wanted me to post here to see what the general consensus is.

I live with my mother here in the US (I'm the petitioner) and on low-income. I have been applying to low income housing in my state, but there is a wait-list of on average, 6 months. On top of that, most of them require SSNs income information and a litany of other things on the application... none of which are available. I will get turned down because of this. Now, just me living with my mother is fine, however, due to some circumstances, my brother will be coming here in a few months as well. There will not be enough room when my husband gets here in 7 more months. My thought is that if my husband gets here as soon as possible, the less likely it is that we will be S.O.L on a house.

A second reason is that he lives in a veeery rural part of India where electricity, travel, food is a constant problem. He's been sick a number of times and I fear for his safety in such a secluded area.

What do you all think?

Not likely that you will be accepted for an expedite. Also if you try to claim you are having financial issues to get an expedite you may have issues with the embassy when they see your files.

You don't write a letter you call them and request the expedite then fax them your proof. Proof being papers showing you have no income and that you are having problems living/getting a home. Proof of your husbands problems of not having food or power / medical issues etc.

The issue with your husbands living - thats a daily thing for people and it is something people live in all the time / their whole life. Generally does not give expedites either.

I'm pretty sure expedite is only granted in life/death cases, serious illness cases and military cases. If you don't have one of the listed I wouldn't even try -- because that'll just clog up wait times for everyone else.

My husband is in ES where 14 people daily are murdered. I'm supporting him, myself and our infant daughter. I'm bipolar. Can I get an expedite? Heck no. Would I attempt to get one? Heck no.

Based on your situation, it wont be approved for expedite the process. Please ask your husband to take care of his health, it is very important to avoid any problem with medical part.

Actually, if a Doctor would sign a letter stating that the stress of raising your daughter alone and worrying about the health & well-being of your husband is exacerbating your condition (Bi-Polar) then you'd have a fair shot at getting your case expedited as you suffer from a real medical condition which is being worse and would be reduced once your husband arrives.

Seriously?? For some reason I thought they didn't care about "mental illness" or even take it that seriously. I'm going to wait it out anyway as I really am hoping for our i130 to be approved when the i601 lockbox goes into effect so my wait time is only 10 more months and not 18.

Thanks guys,

I knew it was a long shot. I just thought that I would put it out there to get some advice. Oh well.

Hang in there Jillian -- we're all in the same boat!! Years from now we'll all be reunited with the ones we love and we'll look back and see this has only made us stronger as people!

You'd think they would care just a little.
