When is the right time for Medical?

Hello everyone!...We just successfully scheduled our appointment today. I just want to

ask if When is the right time to go for Medical?...since,we won't have our interview til

like second week of May...any suggestion would be appreciated!....

June 15 Wedding "Blessed Day!" thank God!

July 13'12 Appointment Civil Surgeon

Adjustment Of Status

July 18'12 Send my application for AOS

July 20'12 USPS delivered my docs. to USCIS Chicago,IL

July 23'12 USCIS received Application(Priority date)

July 26'12 Check cash out/got txt@email,received my application

July 30'12 received mail NOA1(AOS/EAD/AP)

Aug.22'12 Biometrics done(Detroit,MI)

Sept.19 USCIS mailed a noticed they approved my Travel Docs.

Sept.20 EAD card on production(approved in 60 days!)

Sept.25 USPS pick up mail from USCIS(EAD card on the way!)

Sept.27 EAD card received.

Sept 28 went to SSOffice for name change on SSN card.

Oct 05'12 Got my new SSN card.

April 16'13 USCIS emailed Case Status:Card/Document Production.

April 20'13 Recieved mail from USCIS welcome notice.

April 22'13 USCIS email that USPS picked up mail containing my GC.

April 25'13 Green Card on hand,finally!...

My sons AOS and IV bill paid March 23rd (status in progress)
My sons AOS and IV bill shows as paid March 26
My IV bill paid March 26
Both packages sent on March 26
My IV bill shows as paid on March 27th
CC on both cases March 30

Current record holder of fastest through the NVC :D

Medical exam in Stockholm April 13th
Interview on May 16th !!!
POE Anchorage July 12th!! 2012

July 2015 n-400 in the mail

September 2015, interview

October 23rd 2015, Oath ceremony!!!!!​​

That depends on what is convenient for you and your fiancee -- as long as you have the medical completed prior to the interview. Some get the medical 3-4 days before the interview, others get the medical weeks before and there have been those that completed the medical a mere day prior to the interview for whatever reason. The day before the interview would not be recommend under normal circumstances.

The Medical Certificate is good for 6 months from date of issue. I would want that out of the way and well the Cemonar requirement.

I agree. Get as much done as possible before the Interview date. Cramming it all at one time really adds to the stress. She needs to be ready for that interview and fell confident these other issues are completed.

When to get the medical is kind of like a balancing act.

On one side you have the fact that the Medical Results will only be valid for 6 months and that the Visa once issued can't have a validity date beyond that of the Medical. This means that for each day prior to the interview you have the medical that is one day shorter validity period for the Visa once issued.

One the other side you have the concern that getting the medical done early will give you a head start on the Sputum Test Process if there is concern with the TB X-Ray results at the medical.

Weighing those two sides I would say determine how soon after the Visa is issued would you be planning to travel? If you know that you'll be able to travel within 3 months of issuance then there is no reason to delay the medical once you have your NVC Case Number since you're only 1 - 3 months from interview at that point (depending on if your K-1 or CR/IR-1).

If you hit the medical as soon as you have your MNL Case Number and do have to undergo the Sputum process then you've saved yourself a couple of months waiting at the cost of a shorter validity period on your Visa.


Must have info for bringing your Philippine wife/fiancee's child to the US

Take advantage of the opportunity that the applicant is not sick,

i.e. cough or colds,..

and if the applicant is a woman and of child bearing age,

SLEC protocol is to go for a medical 7 days or 10 days after her menstrual cycle,..

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)
