We are getting close to my fiance coming here to the USA, Wondering do i buy the tickets or does she buy the tickets?? I see Delta has a manila to detroit to erie, for 1100.00 includes taxes, but she tells me they have to pay taxes on top of that, not counting the fee in the airport.Any advice would be great.

Thanks

Eddie

Ya there is some sort of exit tax, think I read it was 1,350 pesos (not verified), plus airport fee of 550. I read if they buy the ticket there the exit tax is collected with the ticket price, otherwise she will have to be prepared to pay it before leaving.

With Delta, ALL airport fees are included. That includes the exit fee. Make sure she prints out the itinerary with the fees listed. They will try and tell her she needs to pay that exit fee. That's when she needs to show them the taxes and airport fees are paid already in the ticket price.

The only fee she will need to pay is the Departure Fee of P550 before going through customs.

I bought my wife's ticket online with delta as well. She already had a debit card on our joint account so it didn't matter but if your fiance doesn't then she may need a photo copy of the card you use to purchase the ticket. Some airlines require it to board or even get the boarding pass so you might want to check with Delta. I don't remember exactly but I don't think any of the airport fees were included in the ticket. I just made sure my wife had the cash to cover those plus travel money good.gif

Also here is Delta's Online Purchase rules for Debit/Credit Cards. I forgot.. When I booked my wife's flight. I had to present my ID and Debit card at a Delta Counter location. DELTA!!!

Credit/Debit Card Presentation

To safeguard against credit/debit card fraud, the purchaser may have to show us the credit/debit card along with a valid photo ID. The time varies based on the billing address of the credit/debit card or the country of travel. If the purchaser is not traveling, they can show us their credit/debit card and ID at an airport ticket counter or another ticket office location, whichever is most convenient.

This must be a new thing since August 2011. My wife flew Delta also and no Philippine departure taxes were included in the ticket price I paid to Delta. I purchased the ticket in USA for her. She had to go to the tax desk in the check-in area of the airport prior to going to the Delta check - in counter and had to show them her receipt. The tax has to be paid plus everyone has to pay the 550 departure tax in addition. After the Adjustment of ststus has been approved and a conditional green card is obtained, she would only ahve to pay the 550 but still has to go to the departure tax counter and get a receipt showing she was there or the Delta check -in counter will send you back there. :pop:

Good price to Erie, PA......best I could find was $1086 direct from Delta US taxes included. I believe you still have to pay the travel tax upon leaving, as an earlier poster said, look at the receipt to make sure you don't double pay. It's like 18$USD to board. Best of luck!!

What board are you talking about? Is that for the exit fee or terminal fee of NAIA 1 which is 550?

We booked my ticket online it cost $1,049.19 including taxes in orbitz. I have his credit card photocopy and his drivers license.

But i saw this note below: Additional baggage fees and entry/exit fees may apply.

It means that exit fees are not included ayt?

When I traveled to US , I paid twice, the travel tax that was 1800 pesos and the exit fee that was 550 pesos. I don't know if there is any changes now. I flew here February of last year. Better call the Delta at the airport to make sure. The tax counter thou said that the next time will only be 250 pesos. Your wife do need the card you used to purchase the ticket and a valid id cuz they are so strict about it. I had a problem with mine cuz my hubby sent me the wrong card eventhou I had his driver's license , they still called my hubby and asked talked to him. So better prepared than being in trouble in the last minute. Just give your wife enough cash since Philippines is a bit crazy when it comes to international travel fees.

And oh! We just visited Hawaii last December and spent Christmas there! A very awesome place! My husband was born and raised there in Oahu, Hawaii. Your wifey will probably love it there!

Airport fee (entry/exit fee) is collected at the airport after you check your bags. You will have to check if the travel tax was collected within the price of the ticket. I don't think it was collected with the price on the ticket I bought for my Fiancee, so I will have to be ready to pay that yet.

I booked my wife's ticket for Nov. 12th 2011. They tried to tell her she needed to pay the Filipino departure fee. I call Delta prior to here going to the airport. Delta informed me on the booking all airport fees where included including the filipino departure fee. When my wife went to the airport. They tried to tell her she needed to pay that fee. She followed my instructions and showed the Itinerary with the taxes break down. The security guard at the door and ticket agents said yes it is include in the airfare.

This is my experience and from what my wife experienced. Maybe she got lucky or what. i will try an dfind the Delta Itinerary.

If the ticket is bought outside of the PI then very likely the fee will not be included but if the ticket was bought inside of the PI then very likely that the fee is included - it will say it on the ticket/itin.

My wife bought her ticket in at the Cathay Pacific office in Makati for travel on Cathay Pacific from MNL to JFK and the fee (1,650 at the time) was included in the price of the ticket. She had no problem at the airport.
