I am going through the K-1 process right now! Got NOA2 almost two weeks ago, so we are starting to get an idea about planning our wedding. right now we are looking at august.

my quesiton is this...i have a friend (US Citizen) who is applying for CR-1 for her husband (in haiti). He already has a Visitor Visa that is good for 5 years (has had it for less than a year).

he is supposed to be a groomsman in our wedding. What are the chances that he will get turned away at POE?

i know you may never know, but just trying to decide if we need to ask someone else to be a usher (so they would be prepared to rent a tux) and then they could step up to groomsman, if needed.

AS long as he got visitor visa, never violated his visa stay, and have strong ties back home he should be fine. But as always you never know. For the most parts, just be honest and show strong ties back to the home.

I know this doesn't directly pertain to your question, but in order to speed things up, be sure to email the embassy at papcons@state.gov to request packet 3. They send packet 3 by mail to the petitioner, but it takes a long time to get there. It is much faster by email.

As far as your question goes, I agree that you never know for sure if someone will get turned away at POE, although if he has strong ties to Haiti and answers any questions truthfully, it shouldn't be a problem.

Also, be aware that it is risky to plan the wedding until you actually have the visa in hand because of the risk of AP or denial.
