Are there any major/important differences to filing as divorced and single, as opposed to filing jointly?

I am referring to the instructions here: http://www.visajourney.com/content/751guide

"Step-by-Step Guide on Removing of Conditions (Form I-751)

These are the basic steps required to file JOINTLY as a married couple. These steps should be followed as a guideline and not as specific requirements for any given case. Every case is unique and this does not address that uniqueness."

Yes, if you are filing individually there are additional documents you need to send in with your application, depending on your circumstances. If you are divorced, you must provide a copy of the divorce decree. If your spouse died, you must provide a copy of the death certificate. There are other conditions and evidence you must send in if your circumstance matches those listed on the I-751 instruction form. Read it through here: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-751instr.pdf
