Hullo,

When I was in the USA on my K1 visa last year, I applied for and got a SS number/card, but it's one of those "NO WORK WITHOUT DHS AUTHORIZATION" ones.

Now I'm back in the UK and our IR1/CR1 petition has been approved, so I need to fill in a new DS-230 form. In the part where it says "would you like a SS number?" what do I tick? I have a number, but I would like a new, non-restricted card.. not sure which boxes/etc to fill in!

I'm going to GUESS: Yes I have one, here's my number: xxx-xxx-xxxx, and YES I would like a replacement?

Apr 27 2011 - Interview attended at US Embassy, visa approved :D!
May 26 2011 - Arrived in the USA
Aug 02 2011 - Married!
Aug 24 2011 - Diagnosed with cancer
Aug 26 2011 - Applied for IR1/CR1 visa
Aug 31 2011 - NOA1!
Sep 03 2011 - Moved back to the UK

If you want the words removed - you take your green card and ssn card down to the SSN office and request them to remove the black letters. About a week-ish later you get a new card without the black letters on it.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Then what do I put on the DS-230? That's my question, not how do I get a new card once I get to the USA. The DS asks if I have a SS card/number AND, as a branch of that question, if I'd like a new one. I would, so that's what I tick, right?

I will ditto what palhaço said earlier, tick yes for 43A, then give your number in the line that asks for it, then tick yes on 43B (you want a replacement card).

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal
