Well, the interview didn't go well today. He was denied for reason of immigration purpose. I was told (the petitioner) that I could come back to the embassy Monday morning before 11am to dispute it. It turns out that someone my fiance dated several years ago, had filed for the DV lottery and signed the papers that they were husband and wife. (He had given the girl his passport photo thinking it was just for a single individual, not a couple) He DID NOT file for the visa, this girl used his name and the information showed up on his file. I asked him if he showed them his certificate of bachelorhood and he said no. So, my plan is, to go to the embassy on Monday morning with the certificate of bachelorhood and explain to them as he did, that he didn't file for that visa. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We're heartbroken and in shock right now.

You are in quite a mess. By signing papers that they were husband and wife, she would have also submitted a bio supossedly signed by him. You need to get them to compare his supposed signature there to his signature on the current forms. Get a straight story about the DV issue. Did she win and try to include him ( makes an odd story about how/why he gave her a photo ) or did she file an entry as him that won and try to push it through ? The difference in signatures will save you ( or kill you if he hasn't been totally honest )

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Something is not right here, you need to find out the truth before you proceed further. As a USC you don't want to get in the middle of any suspected fraudulent activity.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

wow.. sry to hear.. but did he ever mention this at all? these are red flags.. one's past with any immigration papers have to be revealed and analyze before the next one.. wish u strength.. where is the lady now? is she married? that signature has a married person is a bummer, big time!

Well very sorry to hear this dear. I am sure you have way more questions than we could ever ask. But was wondering why would he give his ex a passport pic? I know how they take and use passport pics in Nigeria and they protect them like gold. So guess I am confused like you why would he do such a thing.

I hope you are driving right now to this girls house and bringing her to embassy with you on Monday. With this certificate of bachelorhood (didn't know there was such a thing in Nigeria),

This is some real serious stuff> praying for a good report. Just breathe and let go and let God. Because he alone can only fix this mess. Really sorry.

I am so sorry about your ordeal but something doesn't sound right. Did he ever tell you about this debacle before today? I have never heard of a certificate of bachelorhood being issued anywhere in that country...i guess it must be a recent development. You must be a DV winner before your name can even turn up in the embassy's database...i guess they were denied the DV lottery visa which means there is no way he wouldn't have known that she had filled as married even if they were supposedly single {misrepresentation}. It's a big mess coming from a consulate so freaking skeptical about every application...You will need prayers and a very strong will to see this through & we wish you luck.

i heard about his experience (and don't mean to put u on spot).. but please make sure you are quite prepared by making sure he has told you everything that went on inside so that way you don't hear something new on Monday from the CO and then that will throw your appeal off and thereby make every next move impossible.

I am sorry to hear about the denial. However, the story he gave about the picture that he thought it was for single is nothing but total BS. It does not matter that he did not file for the DV. If she got his picture, she would have filed as husband not as boyfriend because there is no provision for that. Dis he know the outcome of the DV application? What happened to that so called "Ex-girfriend"? How did you guys meet? And what the hell is certiificate of bachelorhood in Nigeria? (That's a new one!) Why would he need to get one? Listen my sister this man has not told you the whole story. The US embassy in Lagos assumed from the get go that all Nigerians are crooked untill proven straight, it's sad, but that is the reality. This is one big mess and I do not know how he can get himself out of it. I have always advised my sisters on this forum to please vet these men thouroughly before making a lifetime committment. You need to ask him a lot of questions, because I don't want you to get hurt in the process. This could be a blessing in disguise for you. Wishing the very best in your journey of love and life.

Am so sorry to hear your disappointing news, but I must agree... Something is not right here... Sounds like you two need to have a long talk and if you get the answers your looking for that will keep you in this fight... Then buckle down and prepare for what is ahead of you... Per Jospeh, it has long been a practice for "good friends" to cross apply for the DV lottery ( hey you submit with me and I will sibmit with you ) Should they win they come as a couple. I suspect your fiance did this and now it has come back to bite. I would suspect you are in for a difficult if not impossible battle. He needs to tell you the 100% truth , and you need to carry that truth to a very very good lawyer such as Marc Ellis. If he complicated what I suspect by lying on this petition ( on such questions as previous visa applications ) he may have closed his own door on any ability to come to the US EVER. Nigerians have all sorts of tricks they have used to immigrate ( multiple passports , fake relationships ) and have made Lagos the hardest place on earth to come through.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

You can scale through only when the truth can be told.did he apply for the visa then?or just the normal online application form for DV lottery. The only reason his name can be on the system is if he has or about to attempt an interview as a husband to a dv lottery winner.

Never heard of that Certificate either. So sorry about the outcome. like others have said. You guys should sit and have a deep conversation before you go to the consulate and be embarrased by the can of worns that may be opened. It is one thing to be denied but then it is another for the embassy offcials to be the ones that will reveal something that will make you look foolish.

Once you have talked then you know if and how to proceed.

I wish you well.

I feel sorry for you guys but this seems abit complicated and unrevealing. You need to get the real details from your man,i suppose it didnt know the denied VISA Lottery would come back to do this damage

This was one reason, i didnt play the DV Lottery for 2011,since an intending immigrant becomes illegible for dv lottery
