Do you mean you don't see the payment as pending from your bank? or on the payment portal?

If the incorrect bank information was put in, you'd see a rejection in a couple days instead of seeing PAID.

Thanks Sheeshkabelle. I was talking about pending in mg bank account. But never mind because it just showed up!!!!!!

Holy #######! I logged on and something FINALLY changed! desismileys_0103.gif

A SIF, again! Let's see what happens tomorrow, in the mean time I'll be happy for this!

Immigrant Visa Invoice Payment Center

This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted. If you believe you have received this message in error, or to resume processing of the case, please contact the NVC immediately.

Hopefully that means a bill is being invoiced!

Hello, I received my NOA2 approval letter and trying to receive my Case Number from the NVC. One thing I am not sure about is whether to send in only the DS-3032 as an attachment by e mail and the I-864 and IV package by mail or send everything by e mail. I thank you for your advice which is invaluable.

Everyone, no matter what country you're from, is eligible to email the DS-3032 (no printing, no signing, no scanning, no attaching). But only a few certain countries are eligible to email packages in (AOS and IV). In your case, you're not eligible, so you have to snail mail the two packages in.

To learn how to email the DS-3032, go to the first post in this thread and find the link for "DS-3032 email template". Read it a couple of time until you understand what you have to do. Once you get your case number, then you can email the DS-3032.

Nothing that I have seen has said this, and the part of the website that you quoted earlier DOES NOT say this. What it DOES say is that if your spouse is living abroad, AND you otherwise qualify for the status of "HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD," then you may still file as head of household, but head of household is NOT the same as "single." Head of household filing requires that you are not married (never married, divorced, widowed, whatever), but they make an exception for people whose spouses live abroad. But I repeat, head of household is not the same as single; those are two separate boxes to check on the 1040. The website is clear that you cannot file as single if you meet qualifications of another filing status, which married people do. You can do what you want, but personally I won't be convinced that a married person with a spouse overseas is allowed to file as SINGLE until I see an actual quote from the IRS website saying so. Nothing quoted so far here and in the tax threads has said that.

:ot2:

Exactly! good.gifyes.gif I have yet to see solid proof from IRS's website stating that a person can legally file single whilst being married, whether the spouse is overseas or not. It's the exact same as trying to file married if you're single. You're not married, so you wouldn't file as such. It's the exact same situation for us here, you can't file single if you're married. headbonk.gif

Not necessarily...a single person is actually probably entitled to a larger refund than someone who is married and filing separately, because if you file separately, you are not entitled to many tax benefits like Earned Income Credit, student loan interest deductions, child and dependent care credit, etc., which you would potentially be eligible for if you filed as single. Married and filing separately is generally disadvantageous. If you are single and try to file jointly, you would have to steal or make up a social security number or ITIN, which is clearly already fraud without the IRS creating extra regulations to prevent it. The most important line from everything I cited is that if you qualify for another filing status (married), you do not qualify as single.

Nothing that I have seen has said this, and the part of the website that you quoted earlier DOES NOT say this. What it DOES say is that if your spouse is living abroad, AND you otherwise qualify for the status of "HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD," then you may still file as head of household, but head of household is NOT the same as "single." i guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, from the quotes i posted, i read exactly that, will speak with NVC and IRS supervisors today to clear things up, i guess what i wanted to know more is that of you have filed single (which i know many have, since i've seen the threads) who has had any problems?

Here are two cases after doing a simple search here on VJ: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/314713-irs-2010-filed-single-ground-for-refusalcan-someone-pls-help-me-fix-it/ and http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?/topic/42423-denial-letter/page__p__563619 Hopefully the CO in Spain either doesn't notice the single status or isn't strict about it since it's a red flag.

It'll only help once you get an interview date assigned and know when your case was shipped out abroad.

Well this year as my tax sitaution was complicated I hired an accountant. In hindsight I could have done the same thing myself now that I know how to file most of the things. I really wanted to file married filing jointly so that I could calim my wife as a dependent but I didn't want to deal with all her foreign income and wait for the ITIN so I ended up Married filing separately. I don't see why people won't won't use that option and file single instead. It is just being lazy on their part. Many online programs don't allow that but if you purchase the software for your PC you can e-file the federal return without an SSN or ITIN. I had to print out and mail the state returns. I understand that there can be differences in deductions between single and MFS but for me there was no difference as those deductions did not apply to me. My accountant advised this was the best course of action for me.

I ended up paying an arm and two legs and few fingers from my other arm to uncle sam though. I have never written a bigger check in my life.
