I provided my current marriage certificate and divorce decree absolute certificate. I don't have previous marriage certificate as they have to be surrendered when applying for a divorce. No questions asked by NVC.

Unfortunately, because there aren't a lot of Spain members, it's hard to judge well.

But, if Spain is like other countries, it's probably about 2 months from CC to interview. So, if you get a case complete in late March or early April, then your interview will most likely be around June.

Maybe it's just me but the NVC operators seem to be a little bit more helpful than the USCIS operators. Although I did have a specific question about the I-864 form and what amount I should list for a prior tax year that had income from my ex-wife. The operator told me to read the instructions and if I still wasn't clear to contact an immigration attorney or a community based organization that specializes in immigration. That to me is the epitome of government bureaucracy. Create rules that aren't clear and then when you ask for clarification they can't or won't tell you.

Well, at least, this operator was honest and admitted they had no idea. They don't always do that, and sometimes you get hilarious answers when you ask specific questions (like the guy who insisted on asking me if my husband was gonna change his euros into dollars when I asked if the I-864 showing income earned abroad for the previous years could be accepted )

Remember that "NVC operators" are contractors. They know VERY LITTLE about the details of the process. They know a bit more than USCIS agents because they can see your file and tell you what the last update is. That's about it. They're not the right people to ask questions beyond "what's up with my case". I tried, and I learnt it first hand

Just received IV bill via e-mail and the same is ready to be paid through Payment Portal....

Should I answer yes or no? Because Yes, I do have it, but the disclaimer reads: Please note that should you answer Yes to any of the following questions, you may be requested to provide documentation to support your explanation.

If I click "No" a drop down box opens up and simply says "Explain" ... so I feel like I should say "Yes", since they'll be looking at my immunization record at the medical.

I just called to see if my case number had been issued yet. I was told the same thing, that they received the case on Monday 3/12 and that it takes 10-20 business days for them to enter the case into their system. I will be calling back on Monday of course.

The last member who interviewed in Spain got a date 1 month and a half after interview scheduling. There are very few IR1/CR1 filers from Spain so you can't have much more recent data. However it's a good indication: it shows the embassy in Madrid is not backlogged and you should get an interview within a "normal" amount of time after scheduling (2 months or less).

From interview to visa in hand, if the visa is approved, it's about the same everywhere: within 8-10 days if they send it by courrier, less if you can pick up your passport.

thank you so very much, just to clear up "The last member who interviewed in Spain got a date 1 month and a half after interview scheduling." this means that after NVC approved their AOS and IV it took 1.5 months to schedule the interview? how long do the AOS & IV packages take to get approved, this is the stage we're in now, sending AOS monday, still not IV bill, and his school starts September, what do you think, is it feasible??

p.s. good point on the Spanish consulate not being overwhelmed, hope this speeds up this tumultuous process

Saylin, On DS-230 form #23 $ #28 (if deceased,Give year of death), Should i leave it blank or Write N/A on it since PDF wont let you put N/A .
